A Dumont actor was considered to be too stilted - the way we Dumont actors used to speak.

Jesus Was A Man

JESUS WAS A MAN
HE WAS BETTER THAN YOU OR I
AND THEY DIDN'T TELL HIM
NO THEY TELL HIM
YOU DIDN'T KNOW
HITLER WAS A MAN
HE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO ANYMORE
EVERYBODY SAID SOMEONE ELSE
BUT THEY KNOW THAT IS A LIE
YEAH, GANDHI WAS A MAN
HE TOOK THE MILLIONS AND GAVE THEM MORE
WE ALL ADORE
I SAID IT LONG AGO WHEN THE SITUATIONS SCREAM SO TRUE
ALL OF IT WAS LONG AGO IN HUMANITY
SO CLIMB OUT OF THE CRADLE AND SHOW YOURSELF
TO THE REST OF HUMANITY
'COS I TOLD YOU LONG AGO EVEN THOUGH YOU KNOW YOURSELF
AND ALL YOU THOUGHT WAS TRUE, SO TRUE, TOO TRUE
THE PIECES OF YOU
LITTLE PIECES, LITTLE PIECES OF YOU
OHLITTLE PIECES OF ME AND YOU
JESUS WAS A MAN
HE WAS BETTER THAN YOU OR I
NO ONE TOLD HIM, NO ONE KNEW
HITLER WAS A MAN
YOU KNOW IT
IN HUMANITY TO MAN
PIECES OF YOU
LITTLE PIECES OF ME AND YOU
OHOH
LITTLE PIECES OF ME AND YOU
OHOHOH
MY GUITAR DOESN'T WORK
I WANNA PLAY A SOLO!

My New Found Dad

I belong to a household
Which was considered rich and affluent
In the neighborhood
My grandfather, grandmother, mother and brother
Were at home
I used to hear my schoolmates talking about their dads
And I did not have one at home
An uncle used to visit our home regularly
All at home treated him with love and respect
Mother and that uncle used to spend a lot time together
My grandparents kept me and my elder brother
Away from them
I carefully avoided talking about dad
As I watched my elder brother
Getting beaten up one day
When he was insisting that
He should be taken to dad
I was comfortable with the friendly uncle
Who visited us regularly
And with whom mom too was pleased
My elder brother showed some dissent
Whenever I talked good of uncle
He came invariably with excellent gifts
He never once missed to be with us
In all celebrations
Let that be festivals, birth days, anniversaries
He would be there
He would see to that my birth days
Get very well organized
And he would bring his friends too, male and female
All went fine till I passed school final
And was about to enter a professional college
I purchased the application form
And got stuck when I was to write my father's name
Mom told me to ignore
Managed to get me admitted
After a dialogue with the principal
But this issue got deep into me
And was determined to establish my parenthood
Every day I spent at least half an hour
Discussing with my grandparents and mother
And when I entered second year
I got a clue that the uncle who visited us regularly
Is my father
I was shocked to hear the story of my mom
And of her broken marriage, out of which
Was born my elder brother
I came to know that
My mother developed relationship with this uncle
And I was the result of this
Socially unapproved relationship
I started taking special interest with uncle
Who, by then, was a very powerful political leader
And had a large following
I was proudly reading news items about him
And was watching excitedly television clips where he figured
I did not know whether uncle noted the changes occurring in me
He might not have marked the struggle
I underwent while refraining from calling him dad
During this period
I happened to overhear mom talking to uncle
Requesting him to marry her formally as his wife died just then
I saw first time uncle getting wild with mom
And made harsh exchanges which all in the family heard
He walked off hurriedly even without bidding bye to me
After that his visits became less frequent
And later he practically stopped visiting
Once I went to his office
He gave me appointment
He behaved gently with same love and affection
I consciously did not talk about mom
I thought mom could meet him now
Told mom accordingly and that day
We all, mom, me, my elder brother, grandparents went to see him
He not only denied appointment
And came out to shout at us
Accusing mom of plotting against him
Choosing indecent expressions about her
Which her offspring would not tolerate
First time I hated him
And could make out that he only is my dad
I resolved at that very moment I would prove that
He only fathered me
And would make a judge of a court declared
We did not make attempts to meet him any more
I finished my graduation
Got a decent placement at the instance of my grandfather
When I became confident of meeting the financial implications
Of a law suit against uncle in establishing my parenthood
I began consulting lawyers
And I settled with a suit in a state level high court
Asking uncle to accede to my claim that
He is my father
He was powerful then and went to the extent of
Ridiculing me of a dutiful son
Who is fighting to save the face of a shameless mother
I appealed to the court
That uncle should undergo a deoxyribonucleic acid test
As compared against mine
So that his biological contribution towards my birth
Can be scientifically established or rejected
During this time uncle lost his political position
As he had to face a very damaging allegation
The court ordered him to undergo the test
After repeated notices from the court
His blood sample was collected
Experiments were conducted
Deoxyribonucleic acid findings
Indicate that he is the biological father of mine
I look back
I liked him when I knew him as uncle
I dislike him when the world came to know that he is
My new found dad

Cheyenne Autumn was received not too successfully. I still think it was a very good movie. It was kinda Ford's apology for the way he had treated Indians in his past pictures.

Emily Dickinson

She died—this was the way she died

150

She died—this was the way she died.
And when her breath was done
Took up her simple wardrobe
And started for the sun.
Her little figure at the gate
The Angels must have spied,
Since I could never find her
Upon the mortal side.

The Clouds Too Have A Way Of Looking

the clouds too have a way of looking
at themselves on the pond
its mirror
for a while they stay there and admire
their puffs and cottons

the reeds standing by the murky water
take pride

an island of grass stays beside them

then the clouds slowly move away
nobody owns them
and they do not touch anybody too.

It was wrong to do this, said the angel

'It was wrong to do this,' said the angel.
'You should live like a flower,
Holding malice like a puppy,
Waging war like a lambkin.'

'Not so,' quoth the man
Who had no fear of spirits;
'It is only wrong for angels
Who can live like the flowers,
Holding malice like the puppies,
Waging war like the lambkins.'

Too Sparsely The Light Falls

Too sparsely the light falls through the window on that day,
in splashes here and there, with the park invisible,
with light fading away and suddenly the dark night comes
with stars shining blue-white.
Away into the naught the light of an aeroplane flashes,
when the night bends far over the horizon
and it feels as if God Himself is here,
stretching Him out over the earthly events.

There Was a Time Cream Rose to the Top

There was a time cream rose to the top,
With expectations.
Today the appearance of BS is there.
Lots of it!
Disappointing patience.

And most of it sitting unappreciated,
By those choosing to ignore imitations.
Preferring in anticipation...
Something that identifies quality and taste.

And that may be a very long wait.
Especially for those who know the difference,
Between scratched and boxed cake.
And what it takes to bake it!

Sharing Samadhi

Raising a glass of water,
Holding, hold tightly and watching,
I get an idea:
Can I think non-verbally,
Merge together with an object
I meditate upon?

Starting, there are sounds,
-A distant truck
-A lad's moan somewhere
-The touch of your cat.
Now you are in this as well.
New level.
-Grrrind
-Whrrrr
-Pop!
Pop is a palindrome,
And I'm thinking verbally again.

Was it a failure?
Not all the way-
Four some unknown number of
Seconds, the ego slept.
We gained refreshment
And tranquility way beyond wine.
A joy better where dreams
Dream too.

When The Sun Was Throwing Its Last Rays On The Earth

When the sun was throwing its last rays on the earth,
your hand found mine at twilight,
the evening sky was suddenly smudged by blood

while the evening-wind was softly scattering sand,
while people hurried home from their jobs
and something in your glance had drawn me closer to you

and when suddenly lightning bolts were falling
we found shelter
against thunderbolts sounding ominous,
against the wild stormy wind

we stood for long moments in each other’s arms
while the rain were pattering down, while the storm quieted down
with the clouds suddenly drawing open
and the moon’s rays falling magically about us.

Knowing I Will Never Be The Same

i know my life will never be the same,
and neither will i,
just the feeling i get,
makes me question every day,
people think it wrong,
i think about death,
you don't know the whole story,
what i go through from time to time,
just to seem fine,
and just to be me,
but appearantly that shouldn't be,
who i should be,
i was meant to be better,
to be like everybody else,
and think like them too,
along the way,
i found out i am different,
in ways i ust can't understand,
this is how god had made me,
to make mistakes,
and not be afraid to take chances,
to think outside the box and know,
the only person who defines who i am,
is me.

It was the way you were (Terzanelle)

It was the way you were, Woman,
your beauty, your laughter, your smile
distinguished you from every other human

and only for a little while
your heart was mine,
your beauty, your laughter, your smile

filled my heart, my head, my soul like good wine
and I experienced perfect moments when
your heart was mine

and the whole world was beautiful then
with your eyes smouldering into my soul
and I experienced perfect moments when

you made me feel whole
and truly knew me inside out
with your eyes smouldering into my soul

and our feelings for each other were pure and devout.
It was the way you were, Woman,
and truly knew me inside out
that distinguished you from every other human.

Please Stephen

Someone high up in Ottawa government should do something soon,
We should not have to wait forever like waiting for a blue moon,
We need set-date elections for everyone in power,
I know this will turn appointees and bureaucrats very sour.

Our politicians in power are seldom if ever seen,
They forget their promises and pretend that they are keen,
They are helpless while the Parole Board sets more criminals free,
I was expecting a better Conservative guarantee.

We need mandatory voting by name and social number,
Under these conditions, the Conservatives should outnumber,
Think of binding referendums too in the way of change,
You are the only hope we have and why should that be strange?

The Mystery House

That door had been shut for years
No sound ever passed its ears
Its eyes were starved, for light,
Inside was just silent Night

Why was it closed, what had it been
Had it some kind of mishap seen
Was it waiting for its master, last,
To free it from some spell he cast

The wood cracked, the metal, rusted
cobwebs on its top vested
' The house of ghosts ',
it was taunted
Little John too knew the house was haunted
Eerie spirits, you could hear all night,
poor Ken, you see, huddled in fright
mother forbade, no one went close
into the death trap, none tried nor chose

' The Winchester House ', it was named once
None gave the manor's house a glance
I believe the house, will forever remain
Yet none its mystery will ever explain.

Help On The Way

Paradise waits, on the crest of a wave, her angels in flames.
She has no pain, like a child she is pure, she is not to blame.
Poised for flight, wings spread bright, spring from night into the sun.
Dont stop to run, she can fly like a lie, she cant be outdone.
Tell me the cost; I can pay, let me go, tell me love is not lost.
Sell everything; without love day to day insanitys king.
I will pay day by day, anyway, lock, bolt and key.
Crippled but free, I was blind all the time I was learning to see.
Help on the way, well, I know only this, Ive got you today.
Dont fly away, cause I love what I love and I want it that way.
I will stay one more day, like I say, honey its you.
Making it too, without love in a dream it will never come true.

A Cry For The People

It was really sad,
When the newsreporter said
That the count of (13) people
In the state of Colorado were ofically dead

That at a movie cinema
many others were wounded and
A baby was among those njured too

At the hands of an angry gunman
On a dark path
Who decide to unfold his evil plan
To steal the hopes and dreams of many,

Now, we the people just can't sit aloofed,
ignoring the loud cries of the love ones
this guman decided to shoot

When there is complete evidence,
Authority has solid proof; for
There is action that is needed
The pursuit of justice is due

This tradegy could of happened to anyone; anywhere
Who knew?

Who shall hear the cries of our hurting people?
Better yet,
Who shall pursue?
In memory of those who lost their lives violenty, much too soon

Don't Fall In Love With Me

Music by: Barry Manilow
Lyrics by: John Bettis
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
She was just a girl who knew the way
I was so naive
Everything she ever said to me
I wanted to believe
I was close to too far gone
When she sat down and
Told me tenderly
Don't fall in love with me
I'll only break your heart
For us forever is just tomorrow
Don't fall in love with me
Don't let the fire start
If you should fall
I'm afraid I'll follow you
Now I'm on the other side of love
Lookin' right at you
There you are so young and sure
Your life has room enough for two
So it's up to me to try and say
Words that didn't stop me yesterday
Don't fall in love with me
I'll only break your heart
For us forever is just tomorrow
Don't fall in love with me
Don't let the fire start
If you should fall
I'm afraid I'll follow you

Last Moment

i remember the look in your eyes
it was something i just now realize.
the way it look like fear
like you really cared
afraid of what you were leaving behind
made you fight for more time.
only if i could of did more
but instead you went out the door
last time i saw you
and only memory that makes me blue.
nothing could of change that.
but, i wished i could have you back
nothing is what it seems
sometimes i feel i just got me
you were everything to me
now it feels i like i'm just empty.
nothing is the same after you left
but, there are things i wish i could of kept.
now i just have to accept
that you not by my side
being my guide
i guess there a time we got to let go
of all of the good things we want to hold,
to remember all of the good times
and the time we both cry.
that what is so great about life.
it seem to end when there're gone.
but they didn't go too far,
as everybody may think.
