I'll Do My Best To Deliver

Ask me for what you want.
Just ask me,
Ask me.
And make it anything,
You need...
From me.

Ask me for what you want.
Ask me for what you need,
And I'll do my best to deliver.
Ask me.
Just ask me.

Ask me for what you want.
Just ask me.
Ask me.
Ask me for anything,
And I will fullfill...
That need.

Ask me for what you want.
Ask me for what you need,
And I'll do my best to deliver.
Ask me.
Just ask me.
And I'll do my best to deliver.
Ask me.
Just ask me.

Oh ask me for what you want.
Ask me for what you need,
And I'll do my best to deliver.
Ask me.
Just ask me.
And I will do my best to deliver.
Ask me.
Just ask me.
And I'll do my best to deliver.
Ask me.
Just ask me.
And I will do my best to deliver.

Just ask me for what you want.
Just ask me for what you need,
And I will do my best to deliver.

Come thunderstorms, rain or shine...
That pressure you have will be taken right off your mind.
I will do my best to deliver.
Just ask me...

Only In The Making Of Movies

Only in the making of movies,
Are actors found to be handed scripts.
To then learn lines some find to be tedious.
And time well spent is sacrificed to deliver,
What's right for the price...
For the cost being paid.

Camera angles are selected,
By a director who chooses the best scenes.
And the actors are blocked within them,
To emote with belief as an audince viewing this...
Sits,
With their emotions manipulated.

Only in the making of movies,
Are 'realities' depicted.
Although many in the audience become captivated,
With beliefs they also can deceive truth easily.
By saying and doing things they wish to sell.
With hopes their 'portrayals' have gone over well.

And only those who become offended,
They can not sell lies they told to tell...
Are those who become combative,
When confronted by others...
Who are specific and direct AND caring less,
How a charade is masqueraded to address.

Only in the making of movies,
Are actors found to be handed scripts.
To then learn lines some find to be tedious.
Until what is done has been finished.
But many unpaid to 'act' but embellish facts,
Find it difficult to strip away all their fantasies.

Only in the making of movies...
No one sits back to snack.
Only in the making of movies...
Every actor wants to get paid.
And,
Only in the making of movies...
No one sits back to snack.
No one has time for that,
Since a budget has to be paid back.
Oh.
Only in the making of movies...
No one sits back to snack.
Only in the making of movies...
Every actor wants to get paid.
And,

Groovy Movies

Sometimes I think Im gonna better myself,
Searching for acceptance in this big, wide world.
Sometimes I think I wont make it,
Playing in a rock n roll band.
Sometimes I wanna be a picture director,
And try to make the world understand.
By making groovy movies,
By making groovy movies,
By making groovy movies.
All the movie makers of the world would be,
Falling over backwards to have dinner with me.
Ill go down to [? ]
Anytime I feel like a game[? ].
Or take a long vacation to san tropez,
And think of all the money I made.
By making groovy movies,
By making groovy movies,
By making groovy movies.
I dont want to be a producer,
I dont want to be a big star.
I just want to be a picture director,
And smoke a big havana cigar.
By making groovy movies,
By making groovy movies,
By making groovy movies,
By making groovy movies,
By making groovy movies,
By making groovy movies.

Deliver Me

deliver me...
from the fury, the noise,
and the roar of the wheel...
deliver me...
from my own insecurities,
my unconscious greed,
and my self driven fears.
deliver me...
from my conceptual understanding,
my limited knowledge,
and my worship of knowledge.
deliver me...
from all anger and hatred
in whatever disguise...
deliver me...
from being driven by
mouth and stomach unchecked,
from what i think i need.
deliver me..
from my countless mistakes,
and the excuses i make!
deliver me...
from any kind of pride
that closes the open hand!
deliver me...
from any sense of self
that would seperate and divide.
deliver me...
from laziness and tiredness,
from bitterness and lonliness.
deliver me...
from all forms of apathy,
and the want to possess...
deliver me...
and bring me to realize myself!

Sad Movies

Sad movies always make me cry
Sad movies always make me cry
He said he had to work, so I went to the show alone.
They turned down the lights and turned the projector on.
And just as the news of the world started to begin,
I saw my darling and my best friend walking in.
Although I was sitting right there they didnn see me.
And so they both sat right down in the front of me.
And when he kissed her lips then I almost died.
And in the middle of the colour cartoon I started to cry.
Oh sad movies always make me cry
Sad movies always make me cry
Sad movies always make me cry
Sad movies always make me cry
And so I got on up and slowly I walked on home,
And mama saw the tears and said baby what is wrong.
And so just to keep from telling her a lie,
I just said sad movies makes me cry.
Oh sad movies always make me cry
Sad movies always make me cry
Sad movies always make me cry
Sad movies always make me cry

John Donne

A Litany

I.

THE FATHER.

FATHER of Heaven, and Him, by whom
It, and us for it, and all else for us,
Thou madest, and govern'st ever, come
And re-create me, now grown ruinous:
My heart is by dejection, clay,
And by self-murder, red.
From this red earth, O Father, purge away
All vicious tinctures, that new-fashioned
I may rise up from death, before I'm dead.

II.
THE SON.

O Son of God, who, seeing two things,
Sin and Death, crept in, which were never made,
By bearing one, tried'st with what stings
The other could Thine heritage invade ;
O be Thou nail'd unto my heart,
And crucified again ;
Part not from it, though it from Thee would part,
But let it be by applying so Thy pain,
Drown'd in Thy blood, and in Thy passion slain.

III.

THE HOLY GHOST.

O Holy Ghost, whose temple I
Am, but of mud walls , and condensèd dust,
And being sacrilegiously
Half wasted with youth's fires of pride and lust,
Must with new storms be weather-beat,
Double in my heart Thy flame,
Which let devout sad tears intend, and let—
Though this glass lanthorn, flesh, do suffer maim—
Fire, sacrifice, priest, altar be the same.

IV.

THE TRINITY.

O blessed glorious Trinity,
Bones to philosophy, but milk to faith,

Mama

Mama
Please be good, please be good to me
Mama
Please be good, please be good to me
Mama
Hovering over me at night
Mama
Comfort me, make me feel all right
I walk alone and see what boys should never
See in their lifetime
I live in the world of spirits
And I talk to the walls
Deliver me from
This little hell
Deliver me from
This little hell
Deliver me from
Mama
Come and take, come and take my hand
Mama
Try and see, try to understand
Mama
Looking through, looking through my eyes
Mama
Everywhere, always in disguise
I walk alone and see what boys should never
See in their lifetime
I live in the world of spirits
And I talk to the walls
Deliver me from
This little hell
Deliver me from
This little hell
Deliver me from
Mama
Please be good, please be good to me
Mama
Please be good, please be good to me
I walk alone and see what boys should never see
I hear what boys should never hear
In their lifetime
I live in the world of spirits
And I talk to the walls
Deliver me from
This little hell
Deliver me from
This little hell
Deliver me from
Mama
Please be good . . .

Mr. Dana, of the New York Sun

Thar showed up out'n Denver in the spring uv '81
A man who'd worked with Dana on the Noo York Sun.
His name wuz Cantell Whoppers, 'nd he wuz a sight ter view
Ez he walked inter the orfice 'nd inquired fer work ter do.
Thar warn't no places vacant then,--fer be it understood,
That wuz the time when talent flourished at that altitood;
But thar the stranger lingered, tellin' Raymond 'nd the rest
Uv what perdigious wonders he could do when at his best,
Till finally he stated (quite by chance) that he hed done
A heap uv work with Dana on the Noo York Sun.

Wall, that wuz quite another thing; we owned that ary cuss
Who'd worked f'r Mr. Dana must be good enough fer us!
And so we tuk the stranger's word 'nd nipped him while we could,
For if we didn't take him we knew John Arkins would;
And Cooper, too, wuz mouzin' round fer enterprise 'nd brains,
Whenever them commodities blew in across the plains.
At any rate we nailed him, which made ol' Cooper swear
And Arkins tear out handfuls uv his copious curly hair;
But we set back and cackled, 'nd bed a power uv fun
With our man who'd worked with Dana on the Noo York Sun.

It made our eyes hang on our cheeks 'nd lower jaws ter drop,
Ter hear that feller tellin' how ol' Dana run his shop:
It seems that Dana wuz the biggest man you ever saw,--
He lived on human bein's, 'nd preferred to eat 'em raw!
If he hed Democratic drugs ter take, before he took 'em,
As good old allopathic laws prescribe, he allus shook 'em.
The man that could set down 'nd write like Dany never grew,
And the sum of human knowledge wuzn't half what Dana knew;
The consequence appeared to be that nearly every one
Concurred with Mr. Dana of the Noo York Sun.

This feller, Cantell Whoppers, never brought an item in,--
He spent his time at Perrin's shakin' poker dice f'r gin.
Whatever the assignment, he wuz allus sure to shirk,
He wuz very long on likker and all-fired short on work!
If any other cuss had played the tricks he dared ter play,
The daisies would be bloomin' over his remains to-day;
But somehow folks respected him and stood him to the last,
Considerin' his superior connections in the past.
So, when he bilked at poker, not a sucker drew a gun
On the man who 'd worked with Dana on the Noo York Sun.

Wall, Dana came ter Denver in the fall uv '83.
A very different party from the man we thought ter see,--
A nice 'nd clean old gentleman, so dignerfied 'nd calm,
You bet yer life he never did no human bein' harm!
A certain hearty manner 'nd a fulness uv the vest
Betokened that his sperrits 'nd his victuals wuz the best;

Deliver Me

Deliver me from darkness.
Deliver me from pain.
Deliver me from loneliness
and let love remain.

Deliver me from blindness.
Deliver me from chains.
Deliver me from unhappiness
and let drops of rain

Shower me with acceptance,
Shower me with song,
Shower me with goodness.
Deliver me from wrong.

A Dirge of the Morning After

VOICE OF THE PEOPLE (wailing dismally):
'Who can deliver us, Lord of our destiny!
Out of the depths comes our passionate cry,
Wrung from the soul of us. Aid for the whole of us!
Tell us, we pray, that our succor is nigh.

'Where is the super-man? Where the deliverer?
Where is the Captain to win us relief
Surcease from sorrowing, respite from borrowing?
Oh, for a philtre to deaden our grief!'

ANXIOUS VOICE FROM RIGHT WING:
'Patience, 0 populace! Wait for a little while!
Labor shall succor you - cleave to your Jim!
James and the rest of them, sure, are the best of them
Jimmy, the agable, trust ye to him!

'Lo, from the Chosen lures he the capital.
Bright golden, capital! Glorious loans!
Millions and mill-i-ons! Soon 'twill be bill-i-ons!
Patience awhile till he floats 'em.' (Loud groans.)

VOICE OF THE PEOPLE (irritably):
'Jim? Oh, be d-d to him. Doors are all slammed to him
Cohen's and Isaac's and old Ikey Mo's.
We would live decently! Up the spout recently
He has shoved everything barring our clothes.

(Again dolefully)
'Who can deliver us? Is there no saviour?
Is there no Chief with a Will and a Plan?
Not in a city-full? Oh, it is pitiful!
The hour it is striking - but where is the man?'

VOICE FROM LEFT WING (eagerly)
'Cheer up, my countrymen! Here is your Gregory!
Long he!s been shut from the councils of State.
He'll banish care for you; he'll do and dare for you.
Wade is the captain to fashion your fate.

'Long was he languishing, sunk in obscurity;
Now his wise counsel the populace seeks.
He is the man for you; he'll plot and plan for you.

Virginia's Story

Elizabeth Gates-Wooten is my Grand mom.

She was born in Canada with her father and brothers.
They owned a Barber Shoppe.
I don't remember exactly where in Canada.
I believe it was right over the border like Windsor or Toronto.
I never knew exactly where it was.

When she was old enough she got married.

First, she married a man by the name of Frank Gates.
He was from Madagascar.
He fathered my mom and her brother and sister.
The boy's name was Frank Gates, Jr.
Two girls name were Anna and Agnes.

Agnes was my mother.

Frank Gates went crazy after the war
He drank a lot and died
Then grandma Elizabeth married a man by the name of Mr. Wooten.
He had a German name, but I don't think he was German.
She took his last name after they got married.

Then they moved to West Virginia in the United States.

Their son, Frank Gates Jr. Became a delegate in the democratic party.
He use to get into a lot of trouble because he liked to fight.
He was a delegate from the 1940's to 1970's.
He died of gout in the 1970's.

Anna was a maid and cook.

She baked cakes and stuff for people as a side line.
She had a hump on her back (scoliosis) .
She had to walk with a cane.
She could cook good though.
She did this kind of work all of her life, just like her mom, Elizabeth

They were both good cooks

They had a lot of money because they had these skills
Especially when people had parties.
Because they would make all of this food and then they would have left-overs.
We got to eat a lot of stuff we normally wouldn't get because of that.
When they cooked, they didn't use no measuring stuff, they would just use there hand.

My moms name was Agnes Barrie Gates.

She married James Wright and moved to Cleveland.

Aftermath

Now the radio stutters. snaps to life.
Some sour song that sets it right.
And when London falls
He'd like to call
But the stars collide.
They're beautiful and much maligned.
In a universe where you see the worst,
And it's up to you to fix it.
Now you've worked it out
And you see it all
And you've worked it out
And you see it all
And you want to shout
How you see it all
It's easy to dismiss the "what's it all about" crowd.
There is no doubt. it's this, here, now.
And you close your eyes.
He's not coming back.
So you work it out, overfeed the cat.
And the plants are dry and they need to drink.
So you do your best. and you flood the sink.
Sit down in the kitchen and cry.
Now you've worked it out
And you see it all
And you've worked it out
And you see it all
And you want to shout
How you see it all
Now the universe left you for a runners lap.
It feels like home when it comes crashing back.
And it makes you laugh
And it makes you cry,
When London falls
And you're still alive.
The radio stutters,
It makes you laugh
And the aftermath,
Open up your eyes.
You're so alive.
Now you've worked it out
And you see it all
And you've worked it out
And you see it all
And you want to shout
How you see it all
How you've worked it out
And you see it all
How you've worked it out
And you see it all

Starlight

Starlight open wide
Starlight open up you door
This is new york calling
With movies on the street
Movies with real people
What you get is what you see
Starlight open wide
Andys cecil b. demille
Come on l.a. give us a call
Weve got superstars who talk
Theyll do anything at all
Ingrid, viva, little joe
Baby jane, and eddie s.
But you better call us soon
Before we talk ourselves to death
Starlight open wide
Everybody is a star
Split screen 8 hour movies
Weve got color, weve got sound
Wont you recognize us
Were everything you hate
Andy loves old hollywood movies
Hell scare you hypocrites to death
You know that shooting ups for real
That person whos screaming
Thats the way he really feels
Were all improvising
Five movies in a week
If hollywood doesnt call us
Well be sick
Starlight open wide
Do to movies what you did to art
Can you see beauty in ugliness
Or is it playing in the dirt
There are stars out on the new york streets
We want to capture them on film
But if no one wants to see em
Well make another and another
Starlight let us in that magic room
Weve all dreamt of hollywood
It cant happen too soon
Wont you give us a million dollars the rent is due
And will give you 2 movies and a painting
Starlight open wide

Devotion

If I am right
If I can be
Constant and faithful
Youll find me
In my devotion
In my devotion
What if you find a fault
Between my purpose and my deeds
And deem me beyond salvation
Judge me to be unworthy
Of your devotion
Of your devotion
If this be obsession deliver me
A passing infatuation deliver me
A feeling lacking in purity deliver me
A test of fidelity deliver me
Deliver me
Deliver me
What if I should find
Youre no good for me
What if I cant be strong enough
What if I cant break free
Of my devotion
Of my devotion

Deliver Me

Every woman and every man,
Knows the feeling so well
Those times when the heart just cant understand,
The times when you never can te ll
So deliver me, deliver me
Baby take this heart, set it free
Take this chance, take this dream
Baby take this heart
Deliver me
I was born with something down inside of me
And its carried me over, delivered me
Y eah delivered me, Im standing at your gate
Just out of reach of the hands of fate
So deliver me, deliver me
Baby take this heart, set it free
Take this chance, take this dream
Baby take this heart
Deliver me
Sometim es I wonder if this is worth the trouble
Sometimes I wonder if this is worth the fight
I never have made my mind up about it
Ive just decided to let it all ride

Baptize My Soul

Written by anastacia newkirk - evan rogers - carl sturken
You baptize my soul
Want the world to know
Yes you do
You baptize my soul
Gotta let it show
Take me to the river and deliver me
Oooooh ooh
I just wanna celebrate another day with you
We were meant to be together, dont you know its true?
From the very start, you captured my heart
Sometimes I wonder what I did before we came along
Until you came around and sang me such a pretty song
Like a butterfly, opened up and changed my life
Giving in to you is something that I cant deny
Oooooh
You (you) baptize my soul
I want the world to know
You manifest the d in destiny
(yes you do)
I said you (you) baptize my soul
Gotta let it show
Take me to the river and deliver me
Just take this empty heart, make it whole
You baptize my soul
Just the sound of your voice brings out the romance in me
The slightest touch of your hand plays me like a symphony
Lovell take us far, like a shooting star
We dont pay no mind to all the things that people say
The only thing that matters is the love weve got today
Its a miracle, were invinsible
I just wanna spend my whole life living in your world
Oooooh
You (you) baptize my soul
I want the world to know
You manifest the d in destiny
(yes you do)
I said you (you) baptize my soul
Gotta let it show
Take me to the river and deliver me
Take this empty heart, make it whole
You baptize my soul
You (you) baptize my soul
I want the world to know
You manifest the d in destiny
(yes you do)
I said you (you) baptize my soul

And take this empty heart, make it whole

Believe It Or Not

Believe it or not, everyone, have things that they hide
Believe it or not, everyone, keep most things inside
Believe it or not, everyone, believes in something above
Believe it or not, everyone, needs to feel loved
Feel loved, but we don't and we won't until we figure out
Could someone deliver us, and send some kind of sign
So close to giving up, 'cause faith is so hard to find
But you don't and you won't, until we figure out
Seen it or not, every time, the world turns upside down
Believe it or not, most of us, feel like we're losing ground
Believe it or not, everyone, hate admitting fear
Believe it or not, most of us, wanna know why we're here
Why we're here, but we don''t and we won't until we figure out
Could someone deliver us, and send some kind of sign
So close to giving up, 'cause faith is so hard to find
Someone deliver us, and send some kind of sign
So close to giving up, 'cause faith is so hard to find
But you're young and you won't, until we figure out
Most of us have nothing to complain about
Most of us have things we could live without
Everyone needs advice on how to get along
You know we won't until we figure out
[Instrumental]
Believe it or not everyone
Believe it or not, everyone, have things that they hide
Believe it or not, everyone, keep most things inside
Believe it or not, everyone, believe in something above
Believe it or not, everyone, needs to feel loved
Feel loved, well we don't and we won't until we figure out
Could someone deliver us, and send some kind of sign
So close to giving up, 'cause faith is so hard to find
Someone deliver us, and send some kind of sign
So close to giving up, 'cause faith is so hard to find

If We Worked Today...

if we worked today
with equal hands,
with equal hearts,
and with equal backs...
if we worked today
with equal souls,
we'd build a world
worth dying for!

if we worked today
with honest hands,
with honest hearts,
and with honest backs...
if we worked today
with honest souls,
