An Old Man Can Be A Poor Man/ An Old Man Can Be A Rich Man

AN OLD MAN CAN BE A POOR MAN/AN OLD MAN CAN BE A RICH MAN

An old man can be a poor man-
He can complain of his pains and problems-
He can think only of all the powers
He no longer has.
An old man can be a poor man
And remember how he loved once
And know he will never love again
And feel infinitely sad at life gone.

An old man can be a rich man-
He can bless the pleasures life still gives,
He can know how to smile,
And know how to laugh-
He can know how to give to those he cares for,
If not of the money he does not have
Nor the physical strength no longer his,
But of the love and the wisdom and the kindness,
He is still blessed with.

Baby, You're A Rich Man

How does it feel to be
One of the beautiful people?
Now that you know who you are
What do you want to be?
And have you travelled very far?
Far as the eye can see.
How does it feel to be
One of the beautiful people?
How often have you been there?
Often enough to know.
What did you see, when you were there?
Nothing that doesn't show.
Baby you're a rich man,
Baby you're a rich man,
Baby you're a rich man too.
You keep all your money in a big brown bag inside a zoo.
What a thing to do.
Baby you're a rich man,
Baby you're a rich man,
Baby you're a rich man too.
How does it feel to be
One of the beautiful people?
Tuned to a natural e
Happy to be that way.
Now that you've found another key
What are you going to play?
Baby you're a rich man,
Baby you're a rich man,
Baby you're a rich man too.
You keep all your money in a big brown bag inside a zoo.
What a thing to do.
Baby you're a rich man...

The Rich Man And The Poor Man

Two men were walking to Heaven
On the day that both men died...
At the age of seventy-seven,
The limit that God supplied...
The rich man and the poor man,
Now together, side-by-side,
Became aware God had a plan
And it couldn't be denied...

They each told stories good and bad,
Despite depressing heartaches...
The poor man gave God what he had,
From the tithe that each man makes...
They each had merits all their own,
Both their triumphs and mistakes
And times they struggled all alone,
And their share of lucky breaks...

Then suddenly they heard God's voice,
'Only one can I let in!
It's up to you to make that choice,
Who will lose and who will win! '
The two men prayed and prayed and prayed,
As if both kith and kin,
Until their final choice was made,
Which caused them much chagrin...

The poor man chose to stand his ground,
For the new friend that he met,
Because for him new love had found,
Like the love you can't forget...
'Receive him, Lord! And bless him, too...
And forgive his every debt...
For in life, he never knew You
And it's filled him with regret...'

Lazarus And A Rich Man

What meaning can you find
in a Rich Man and Lazarus
both remembered lived died?

The rich man had already received
his reward in wealth luxury lived
could not forsake now for heaven.

Jesus allowed sickness
death to claim Lazarus
proved from death Lazarus

could be resurrected
from the memorial tomb
after dead four days

Jesus had told his disciples
outspokenly “Lazarus has died,
and I rejoice on your account

that I was not there, in
order for YOU to believe.” John 11: 13-15.
Jesus had said to his disciples

“This sickness is not
with death as its object,
but for the glory of God,

in order that the Son of God
may be glorified through it.” John 11: 4.
Jesus raised Lazarus

from the dead
by the will of God
who sent forth Jesus. John 11: 41-42.

Jesus has said
“I am the resurrection
and the life. He that

exercises faith in me, even
though he dies,
will come to life; ” John 11: 25.

when we encounter
poor suffering people
we are encountering

people who are enduring
the same life that Jesus lived;
in pure ransom sacrifice died

for; and as for me I have chosen;
better a tin shack in heaven
than a mansion in hell for eternity.

The Rich Man And Lazarus

A Worldling spent each day
In luxury and state;
While a believer lay,
A beggar at his gate:
Think not the Lord's appointments strange,
Death made a great and lasting change.

Death brought the saint release
From want, disease, and scorn;
And to the land of peace,
His soul, by angels borne,
In Abraham's bosom safely placed,
Enjoys an everlasting feast.

The rich man also died,
And in a moment fell
From all his pomp and pride
Into the flames of hell:
The beggar's bliss from far beheld,
His soul with double anguish filled.

O Abram send, he cries,
But his request was vain
The beggar from the skies
To mitigate my pain!
One drop of water I entreat,
To soothe my tongue's tormenting heat.

Let all who worldly pelf,
And worldly spirits have,
Observe, each for himself,
The answer Abram gave:
Remember, thou wast filled with good,
While the poor beggar pined for food.

Neglected at thy door
With tears he begged his bread;
But now, he weeps no more,
His griefs and pains are fled:
His joys eternally will flow,
While thine expire in endless woe.

Lord, make us truly wise,
To choose thy peoples' lot;
And earthly joys despise,
Which soon will be forgot:
The greatest evil we can fear,
Is to possess our portion here!

Silly; Religion: Rich Man Vs. Ghost

honest 'scrooge':
The rich man said 'I care not to breed; time's too valuable to sow my ‘seed'.
Money's my own evil, like cotton has its weevil.
All I really care about is greed.'

rich man is warned:
To rich man one eve came a tall ghost. Said the foretelling ghost to his host:
'All money you can save you can take to your grave,
but in Hell you'll still be scorched toast.'

ooh! scary ghost (not) ! :
Rich man to ghost: 'You're not so clever. You'll find I have no panic lever.
L. R. Hubbard did say 'rich men, live for today;
Scientologists live forever'.'

ghost retorts:
Ghost to rich man: 'I have discovered what became of your L. R. Hubbard.
He told a mighty tale, but his beliefs did fail….
to keep him out of the Devil's cupboard.'

rich man retorts back:
Rich man to ghost: 'I believe you're a liar. I think your tail will be on fire.
I would not hire you …to fix the sole of my shoe, …
let alone 'my soul '. You conspire! ! '

ghost gives up! (almost) :
At that the poor ghost his head did scratch, thinking, perhaps, he'd met his match.
Then he saw the TV. He put on channel three,
and Hubbard's broadcast (from Hell) they did catch.

thankful (formerly-rich) man to ghost:
Rich man said: 'Ghost, I believe you indeed! ! You can leave now on your steed.
but first take my money and bring me a ‘honey',
for I've been long overdue to breed! ! '

Gospel For A Very Sad Rich Man (part 2)

and you hear what God says
that you mr. rich man
has to sell all you have and
give all the proceeds to
the poor

and mr. rich man
why are you so sad?

do you hate the church? do you not like God?
are you bound by the strings of your purse?

you still want to be saved?

No Man can compass a Despair

477

No Man can compass a Despair—
As round a Goalless Road
No faster than a Mile at once
The Traveller proceed—

Unconscious of the Width—
Unconscious that the Sun
Be setting on His progress—
So accurate the One

At estimating Pain—
Whose own—has just begun—
His ignorance—the Angel
That pilot Him along—

Rich Man

The rich man has his motor-car,
His country and his town estate.
He smokes a fifty-cent cigar
And jeers at Fate.

He frivols through the livelong day,
He knows not Poverty, her pinch.
His lot seems light, his heart seems gay;
He has a cinch.

Yet though my lamp burns low and dim,
Though I must slave for livelihood—
Think you that I would change with him?
You bet I would!

The Rich Man And The Poor Young Woman

it is a world of
symbiosis
when an old, rich man
meets a
poor young woman
lonely as he is
he offers her
romance
the moon and the stars
to her bosom

the young woman smiles
and too kind enough
to answer him with
some smiles
and welcoming
affections

he says he will marry her
and she takes him
for a husband
he needs love
she needs (so badly)
his cash

and then they live happily
shortly after

Proud man can't sing well

proud man can't sing well
his heart is too high
his voice is in his throat
his throat will be choked in high pitch
makes him can not breathe well
and his body trembled in lower ground
his voice is not clear and honest
he sings because he is proud
bot because he likes the song or likes to sing
he sings not for everybody
he sings for his pride
his heart is in his throat
and his voice will choke his throat

An Expense No One Can Afford

Prior to having experience,
Many had none.
With a willingness to comprehend,
What then in their minds did not exist.
And speeding today with such expansiveness.

Although those abundant with incompetence,
Are threatened and deny those who show...
More confidence, intelligence AND experience.
And in doing so prove their own ignorance is unlimited!
At an expense no one can afford yet accept the restrictions.

I Never Wanted A Rich Man

I never wanted a rich man
Just someone with soul
It was on the day I met you
I vowed to never let you go
I never knew much about romance
Always used my lucky charms
I learned it all in just one lesson
When you first held me in your arms
Open up your heart
Let me inside
If you listen to your intuition
Well have a chance tonight
Keep me in your heart
And hold on tight
If you read into my intuition
Well find a way tonight
I put away all my heroes
And all the lovers I have known
Even though Ive had my share
Ive spent too many nights alone
Dont need to look for fame or fortune
I have found my paradise
Youve got the whole world in your hands
And a fortune in your eyes

What A Man Can Do (in reply to what a woman can do)

a man can take the heart of a woman and
mold it to the way it should be
a man can take a woman and set all her emotions free.

a man can love a woman like she's
never been loved before.
a love and passion so deep
that it will go from shore to shore.

a man can bring forth a child
to fill the void in her heart.
and if she wants more
than let this be the start.

a man can try to protect her from
all the miseries of the world.
just like an oyster that protects its beautiful pearl.

in this mans mind and heart
she completes both their souls.
and the love that he has
is worth much richer than gold.

a mans love can stretch across infinity
to show how wide his love
for it is instilled in him from the lord from above.

I Can Afford to Gloat

Under your direction,
Our entire belief system...
Has plummeted.

Why are you gloating?
You have been clearly defeated,
By your foes.

'I know!
But my ego had never been involved.
Those who opposed my recommendations,
Have devastated themselves.
And what has been exposed,
Is their lunacy.
Not mine.
I attempted to find ways to save their 'beliefs'.

So...
What is your next move?

'A repeating of what I initially said.
We,
Not me.
But WE have lots of work to do.
You've already proven your personal attacks on me...
Does not solve 'your' problems.'

I can afford to gloat.
The only risk I have taken,
Was to reveal the truth.
Your belief system needed to be freed,
From delusions kept that cause your bleeding.

And...
Not once,
Did I call anyone a fool.
Or an imbecile.
I am proud of that.
And I am not gloating.
That is 'your' interpretation.
But 'if' it pleases you to believe that?
A gloating done I will do.

Now...
Do you insist on continuing playing,
Childish games?
Or...
Do you want to get down to business?
It's up to you.

And,
Remember this...
I can afford to gloat.
Can you? '

Can the Anti-corruption Crusade Work?

If noble be your profession,
And noble be your fighting cause,
Mere fasting may not help you much
To cleanse society off evils!

Rich man can't fight for poor man's sake!
He ought to share his wealth, then fight;
A smoker shan't advise others;
Let him give up his smoking first!

When you have joined politics, then,
Your anti-corruption struggle,
Can't bring you victory anytime,
For you have joined the corrupt side!

Not all can become Gandhijis!
Non-violence does not work these days;
Self-sacrifice and example
Help you to lead a just struggle!

But can you make the sea salt-free?
Then you must make rivers salty!
Earth cannot turn a paradise,
As long as men remain selfish!

All forms of rule are imperfect;
No man is content with less wealth;
But men are never satisfied;
Corruption is a global vice!

All you can do is mitigate
The evil to a harmless state;
But only those who are not rich
May hope to gain a victory!

Too much of anything is bad;
All feats need supreme sacrifice;
As price of human life is less,
Unborn get murdered in the womb!

What One Man Can Do

This song appears on two albums, and was first released on the seasons of the heart album. it has also been released on the very best of john denver (double cd) album.
I suppose that there are those
Wholl say he had it easy
Had it made in fact
Before hed even begun
But they dont know the things I know
I was always with him
It may sound strange
We were more than friends
Its hard to tell the truth
When no one wants to listen
When no one really cares
Whats going on
And its hard to stand alone
When you need someone beside you
Your spirit and your faith
They must be strong
What one man can do is dream
What one man can do is love
What one man can do is change the world
And make it young again
Here you see what one man can do
As shaded as his eyes might be
Thats how bright his mind is
Thats how strong his love
For you and me
A friend to all the universe
Grandfather of the future
And everything I would like to be
What one man can do is dream
What one man can do is love
What one man can do is change the world
And make it young again
Here you see what one man can do
What one man can do is dream
What one man can do is love
What one man can do is change the world
And make it young again
Here you see what one man can do
