Oh yeah, that was the thing to do at that time. This was before the new wave of bebop started.

Last Of The New Wave Riders

The last of the new wave riders
Will be the first of the new age masters
Pick up your arms was the call
So I packed up my fender and ran down the hall
Back to the fields and forests
Now I am one of them
Turn on the power cried the army of sound
And the hum of the amps shook the trees and the ground
And like a single man we cranked up the knobs
And a thousand guitars sang our national anthem
We captured the whole human race
There was nowhere to hide, playing filled every space
Jamming the world back into place
Everyone a star
We hit the supreme overload
And the great amplifier began to explode
The smoke is slowly clearing away
And the whole universe is a giant guitar
(here comes that silver surfer now)

The New York Times

Oh,
It makes no sense to me
Yeah, I was living in a different world when I heard the news
I keep having the same bad dream
And it makes me want to hurt all the people who have done this thing to you
When I see your face, I can see you smile
Read all about you in the new york times
When I see your eyes, I can see your light
When I think about what happened
It makes me crazy
It makes no sense to me,
This eye for an eye thing,
It has gone too far
I dont know anyone who doesnt hurt inside
I would like to believe we could learn from this
And maybe some day we can make things right
I want to believe in this world
I want to believe in this life
I want to believe in a world that does not seem real
When you read between the lines
When I see your face, I can see you smile
Read all about you in my new york times
When I see your eyes, I can see your light
When I read about the world
It makes me crazy
I want to believe in this world
I want to believe in this life
I want to believe in a world that does not seem real
When you read between the lines
Gotta read between the lines
Whoa, gotta read between the lines
I really want to believe I can make things right
I want to believe I can learn to feel alright inside
I want to believe I can learn to make things right
Oh, I want to believe in this world
I want to believe in this life
I want to believe in a world that does not seem real
When I read the new york times
I see your face, I see your smile
Read all about you in the new york times
I can see your eyes, I can see your light
When I think about what happened
It just makes me crazy
When I close my eyes
You seem so alive
I really think about you
I want to believe we can make things right
I want to believe
I want to believe
I want to believe
I want to believe
Oh, I want to believe in this world
I want to believe in this life
I want to believe in a world that does not seem real
When I read the new york times

William Shakespeare

Sonnet 49: Against that time, if ever that time come

Against that time, if ever that time come,
When I shall see thee frown on my defects,
When as thy love hath cast his utmost sum,
Called to that audit by advised respects;
Against that time when thou shalt strangely pass,
And scarcely greet me with that sun, thine eye,
When love, converted from the thing it was,
Shall reasons find of settled gravity—
Against that time do I ensconce me here
Within the knowledge of mine own desart,
And this my hand, against myself uprear,
To guard the lawful reasons on thy part.
To leave poor me thou hast the strength of laws,
Since why to love I can allege no cause.

Welcoming The New Year

Up into the midnight air, Chinese lanterns lift;
Away, across the miles, they now silently drift.
I gaze up at their orange flickering lights,
Until they slowly disappear out of sight.

I stand on tiptoes at my bedroom window,
Intently watching this spectacular show.
I’m so determined not to miss a single thing;
More and more fireworks, each minute brings.

I turn my head this way and that,
As though I was at a tennis match.
Fireworks are launching all over the place;
Up, into the sky, they now rapidly race.

Small birds twitter in the tall trees nearby;
Unable to understand happenings in the sky.
In the distance, I can hear some loud cheers.
People stagger past, having had some beers.

Sparkling silvery stars fill the night sky,
But, sadly, it isn’t long before they die.
Fireworks explode to my right and my left;
When they’re all over, I feel quite bereft.

The fireworks last for an hour or more;
The Chinese lanterns, I’d never seen before.
An hour later, the night sky is almost dead.
Having greeted the New Year, I go to bed.

Chance Meeting At The Tarantula

Hey, dont I know you from somewhere
Yeah, it was down in new orleans
In one of those back-street bars in the quarter
Between desire and honalee
You were dancin with a friend of michaels
I remember how we met
You were talkin to ol jimmy
And you lit my cigarette
Chorus:
How come you cant remember?
This is me youre talkin to
From may through september
It was all about me n you, baby
It was all about me n you
Well it looks like to me
That you have conveniently forgotten everything
This confusion that has surrounded you
Is this your morality and not your brain
Youve got a birthmark below your navel
You wear a size seven and a half shoe
You got this rolex watch that I suspect you cobbed
From that doctor who said he loved you
Chorus:
How come you cant remember?
This is me youre talkin to
From may through september
It was all about me n you, baby
It was all about me n you
Well you told me that you lived in the wind
Like a bird who never touched the ground
And if you did you would surely die without making a sound
Live, lets live, thats all you kept sayin
And our summer was full of life
Were gonna send them a postcard, and show em what its like to be alive
But I never wanted to leave your side
No, I just couldnt believe that youd lie
No, I never wanted to say good-bye baby
Chorus:
How come you cant remember?
This is me youre talkin to
From may through september
It was all about me n you, baby
It was all about me n you

Fortune Of The Night

Written by neil diamond, tom hensley, and alan lindgren
Fortune of the night,
Callin out my name and saying shell be mine tonight,
Fortune of the night.
Oh, my heart is tellin me,
Oh, I better put a move on.
If she got away,
Then not a day would go by without some blue song.
All my life,
Ive waited for just tonight
To say that I love her.
And all this time,
Ive wanted to call her mine
And how her I love her.
Fortune of the night,
Callin out my name and saying
I will find her.
Fortune of the night,
Is there any doubt Ill need to have her by my side,
Fortune of the night?
Fortune of the night.
And oh, Im really movin now cause,
Oh, I would feel like a fool, yeah,
If she got away.
Theyd only say the rumors would truly be true, yeah,
That all this time
I waited to call you mine.
And you got to know it.
Fortune of the night,
Callin out my name and saying I will find her.
Fortune of the night,
Isnt any doubt Ill need to have you by my side,
Fortune of the night.
To want her,
To love her,
Oh, I do.
And nows my time.
Ive waited, but nows my time to show that I love her.
Fortune of the night,
Callin out to me and saying I was chosen.
Fortune of the night,
Tellin me that well be there
Until the morning light,
Fortune of the night.
Ah ah ah ah ah
Fortune of the night,
I hear you call.
Ah ah ah ah ah
Are you gonna keep an eye on me tonight?
Ah ah ah ah ah fortune of the night, I hear you call.
Ah ah ah ah ah are you gonna sing your song with me sometime?
Ah ah ah ah ah fortune of the night, I hear you call.
Ah ah ah ah ah are you gonna shine your light on me and make her mine?

The Day That Time Would Stop!

The passageway was longer than he thought
He would have said,
It seemed to go forever,
But the words stayed in his head.
That drumming in his ears was surely
Just the lack of sound,
And could it be, he floated,
With his feet just off the ground?

The ambulance had called for him at just
On half past three,
He'd told his wife: ‘Don't bother,
It will go away, you'll see! '
His wife was more determined than she'd
Ever been before,
She dialled up on her mobile
And she waved him, at the door.

‘It's all just fuss and bother, this, ' he thought,
And flushed quite red,
The fellow in the ambulance
Looked grim, and shook his head.
He tried to give him oxygen, then
Called out to his mate:
‘You'd better put your foot down,
Or we might be there too late! '

He felt the lurch of speed, and heard the
Sirens start to wail,
He only felt embarrassment,
‘Such fuss! Beyond the pale! '
But then the light had faded in the
Middle of the day,
And that was when he found himself
Deep in that passageway!

The light became much brighter, at the end
He saw a door,
It slowly started opening,
He couldn't see much more,
But then he floated through it, standing
Stark within this room
Filled wall to wall with flowers that
Had just begun to bloom!

He stood there for a moment, he could not
Believe his eyes,
A crowd of happy people jumped
On out, and yelled: ‘Surprise! '
Then streamers and balloons appeared
And tangled round his feet,
He stared at them in wonder as
His heart had ceased to beat!

His father stood there grinning, he had died
Before his time
While his mother wiped a tear away,
She'd left when he was nine,
And all the aunts and uncles from
His distant memories,
Now stood and charged a glass to him,
And smiled, and shouted: ‘Cheers! '

‘He doesn't know what's happened, give him time, '
Said Uncle Ron,
‘We're just so glad to see you - My!
The weight that you've put on!
You must have seen it coming, all
That pain before you drop;
It's common to us all, you know,
The Day that Time would Stop! '

He paused to think about his wife, and
Wondered if she cried,
Or simply shrugged her shoulders when
She heard that he had died,
The heart that he no longer had
He knew would never mend;
He stood erect and dignified -
A funeral to attend!

The Old And The New Masters

About suffering, about adoration, the old masters
Disagree. When someone suffers, no one else eats
Or walks or opens the window--no one breathes
As the sufferers watch the sufferer.
In St. Sebastian Mourned by St. Irene
The flame of one torch is the only light.
All the eyes except the maidservant's (she weeps
And covers them with a cloth) are fixed on the shaft
Set in his chest like a column; St. Irene's
Hands are spread in the gesture of the Madonna,
Revealing, accepting, what she does not understand.
Her hands say: "Lo! Behold!"
Beside her a monk's hooded head is bowed, his hands
Are put together in the work of mourning.
It is as if they were still looking at the lance
Piercing the side of Christ, nailed on his cross.
The same nails pierce all their hands and feet, the same
Thin blood, mixed with water, trickles from their sides.
The taste of vinegar is on every tongue
That gasps, "My God, my God, why hast Thou forsaken me?"
They watch, they are, the one thing in the world.

So, earlier, everything is pointed
In van der Goes' Nativity, toward the naked
Shining baby, like the needle of a compass.
The different orders and sizes of the world:
The angels like Little People, perched in the rafters
Or hovering in mid-air like hummingbirds;
The shepherds, so big and crude, so plainly adoring;
The medium-sized donor, his little family,
And their big patron saints; the Virgin who kneels
Before her child in worship; the Magi out in the hills
With their camels--they ask directions, and have pointed out
By a man kneeling, the true way; the ox
And the donkey, two heads in the manger
So much greater than a human head, who also adore;
Even the offerings, a sheaf of wheat,
A jar and a glass of flowers, are absolutely still
In natural concentration, as they take their part
In the salvation of the natural world.
The time of the world concentrates
On this one instant: far off in the rocks
You can see Mary and Joseph and their donkey
Coming to Bethlehem; on the grassy hillside
Where their flocks are grazing, the shepherds gesticulate
In wonder at the star; and so many hundreds
Of years in the future, the donor, his wife,
And their children are kneeling, looking: everything
That was or will be in the world is fixed
On its small, helpless, human center.

After a while the masters show the crucifixion
In one corner of the canvas: the men come to see
What is important, see that it is not important.
The new masters paint a subject as they please,
And Veronese is prosecuted by the Inquisition
For the dogs playing at the feet of Christ,
The earth is a planet among galaxies.
Later Christ disappears, the dogs disappear: in abstract
Understanding, without adoration, the last master puts
Colors on canvas, a picture of the universe
In which a bright spot somewhere in the corner
Is the small radioactive planet men called Earth.

At That Time In The Night

Glass, grass!
Frequent,
Implemented,
Unacceptable! !
Interim,
Solicit,
Commissioned!
To take another course,
Like three successive knocks!
Of an encounter,
With your body smeared with herbs;
At that time in the night.

The New Testament

If you do believe only in The New Testament,
I am not worried;
Because i do believe in it as well,
But where is it written that the Son of the Creator was born on December 25th?

'Ah Ha'! !
Now you've got my point;
Because the truth should be told always,
And i am ready to tell the truth than nothing else.

Walt Whitman

In The New Garden In All The Parts

IN the new garden, in all the parts,
In cities now, modern, I wander,
Though the second or third result, or still further, primitive yet,
Days, places, indifferent--though various, the same,
Time, Paradise, the Mannahatta, the prairies, finding me unchanged,
Death indifferent--Is it that I lived long since? Was I buried very
long ago?
For all that, I may now be watching you here, this moment;
For the future, with determined will, I seek--the woman of the
future,
You, born years, centuries after me, I seek.

The New Tenants

The day was here when it was his to know
How fared the barriers he had built between
His triumph and his enemies unseen,
For them to undermine and overthrow;
And it was his no longer to forego
The sight of them, insidious and serene,
Where they were delving always and had been
Left always to be vicious and to grow.

And there were the new tenants who had come,
By doors that were left open unawares,
Into his house, and were so much at home
There now that he would hardly have to guess,
By the slow guile of their vindictiveness,
What ultimate insolence would soon be theirs.

The New American Way

quit banging the drums of war!
war was never meant to be
a means of economic survival...
much less profitable....
human lives mean nothing!
freedom and democracy
are a hoax... a drug
administered through the
late night tv news....
we're not trying to liberate anyone,
it's all profit and loss....
profit to the War Machine...
loss... of lives, any sense of morality
and/or human decency.

it's easy to sell....
just tell the people they're
our enemies... that they're
out to get us.
you dont have to prove
anything...
no weapons of mass destruction
needed... just the fear
created by implanting the thought!

profit justifies anything...
the new American Way!

The new day started wonderful

This morning it felt
as if I was going to ride
into the red ball of the sun
while the wind
knifed strong past me
and the blue Honda motorbike
quickly eated up Soutpansberg Avenue.

There’s something magical and enchanting
to a rising sun
that is just hanging halfway
above the black tar road
and the colour of that red ball
still stays with me.

I drove with power
up the hillock of Gordon Street
and the rays of the sun
was at my side
and the caboodle of cars
couldn’t bother me
and the new day
Started wonderful.

We do not always realise,
how much we have to be thankful.
We are just too much set
in the here and now,
while the greatness
of God’s love
are all around us.

To Welcome the New

To Welcome the new,
Release the old
To enter the future,
Let go the past
To take up new lives,
Give away those lived.

It sounds so practical,
It seems so sensible,
It should be so feasible
It should be easy.

It’s none of the above,
Yet in some ways
Tho’ it’s almighty hard,
We do it each of our days.
We just move forward.

We are made to change,
We are shaped for change,
We survive by change,
We live in a storm of change,
From the Maker’s hand.

Today was another change,
We stand on the edge of vast change,
And afraid or unafraid of great change,
We all walked forward.

Some may say we had no choice,
Others say even that is a choice,
But I say that by hand and voice,
We all make a difference.
We always can,
We always will.
It is what we do.
We are the changers, and the changed.
And we go forward.

The Land That Time Forgot

Where the dinosaurs lie sleeping,
In the land that time forgot,
Save by the loyal crofters,
Whose lives abide atop,
Those magnificent white mountains,
Whose mood can turn so fast.
To know them is to love them
With their awesome graceful past.
Imperious, they'll forever stand,
Amidst the secret glens.
Withstanding ever, test of time.
Towering over brooks and benns.
If you enter through the gates of time,
Expect them to enfold,
You, with an Energy unique and pure
Where time is liquid gold.
Moments they spell hours,
And days turn into years.
The mighty mountains tall and true
Will wipe away all tears.
If you have the courage,
And you know this life's for you,
The hills and glens and bothies,
Will be ever always true.
To those who see God's mistress,
Will she always hold you tight.
So take a breath and make the step,
From darkness into light.

Now that time flies past

Now that time flies past
this will be seen
as Afrikaner history
and people will say
that it is past

but we know
he was jailed
like a criminal,

was later Prime Minister
and then President
(and it’s not Nelson Mandela
that I am talking about)
this man was a true Afrikaner
and seen by some
as a patriot

Maybe planted bombs
to blow up railway lines
and held a gun in his hand,
seen at a time
by white people
as a terrorist
and was jailed for it
but wasn’t a killer
like the terrorists of today

and later
he could take
the Big Black Book
in his hand
and on it make a solemn oath
before the Lord
and try to keep his promise,

until the big crocodile
snapped him in two
and walked into his shoes
and the total onslaught came

and eland armoured cars, later ratels,
artillery and rocket launching lorries
stood in Angola
to hit the communists
into pieces.

Song: The Last Wave

I heard the wind a-blowin'.
The wind, it raged for you.
I gave you ample warnin'.
I thought that you'd come through.

The day was hot and balmy,
The sweat was stuck like glue,
On the baskin' tourist army,
Of sprawlin' flesh and hue.
They lay like red salami;
On toast, without a clue,
Of the last wave and tsunami,
That would drown them in a slew.

I heard the wind a-howlin'.
The wind it screeched for you.
Like wild dogs a-growlin',
The wind: it blew and blew.

I saw the waters risin'.
The storm arose for you.
The advancin' beach, surprisin'
All those who never knew.
From the hills, I'm excercisin'
My vantaged point of view,
For the wave's, my new horizon,
With the sky, a churnin' brew.

I heard the wind a-blowin'.
The wind, it raged for you
My fear and guilt was growin',
So little could I do.

I heard the wind a-blowin'.
The wind, it raged for you.
But the manner of your goin',
Has sunk me deep in blue!

That Time Approaches Near

What would you do...
If suddenly you discovered,
God was pure energy,
A light force within you?
And 'beings' of higher energies
Are very soon to appear.
From centuries out of our reach!
Ahead of us,
By thousands of years!

What would you do...
If you knew to 'them',
You were barbaric?
The lowest of all humanistic creations.
And they are observing our trivial deeds,
With displeasure they've come to stop!
To set the universe at ease!

What would you do...
When you find you've been fooled.
To worship with a faith,
In 'things' that has nothing to do with you!
And when dimensions like a veil,
From your eyes have been removed.
What would you do...
When beings with powers,
Take complete control over you?

Think about it!
But not too long!
There are other beings here...
Who are aware of what we fear!
And they are going to make it clear...
The right way to love and live our lives!
And that time approaches near!

By The 'Old You' The New You Knew

There is no special wand
To hand out and wave...
To dissolve obstacles
Blocking your way.
You may not like it...
But the path you're strolling on
Is the path 'you' pave...
Constantly raving about what's being done!
How much of it did you do?
How much was labor?
How much of it fun?

Or is that just as much of a mystery,
As your interests in your neighbors' business?
Leaving yours mismanaged as you manage theirs!

I wouldn't rely on anyone,
To help you figure 'you' out!
And that's not going to happen...
Not as long as you are spending time
Trying to trace your place,
In someone else's footsteps!
Better than they've done themselves.

Do something different!
Run away from yourself.
Forget being followed!
Allow yourself to discover new surroundings!
Don't look back...
Fast is this magic track that attracts!
You'll catch up in time.

And by then...
You might find your mind has broaden!
Enough not to wait to be pursued...
By the 'old you' the new you knew!
