Absolutely Everybody

Absolutely everybody,
Everybody needs a little loving,
Everybody needs somebody thinking of them.
Everybody needs a little respect,
And whatever it takes,
Im gonna get it.
Everybody needs a hand to hold,
Someone to cling to
When the nights are getting cold.
Im no different,
I am just the same,
A player in the game.
Absolutely everybody,
Everybody, everybody.
Absolutely everybody
In the whole wide world.
Absolutely everybody,
Every boy and every girl,
Absolutely everybody.
Everybody needs a human touch.
I cant live without it,
It means too much to me.
Everybody needs one true friend,
Someone wholl be there til the very end.
And absolutely everybody breathes,
And everybody, everybody bleeds.
Were no different,
Were all the same,
Players in the game.
Absolutely, everybody,
Everybody, everybody.
Absolutely everybody
In the whole wide world.
Everybody breathes,
And everybody needs.
Absolutely everybody.
Absolutely everybody.
Every boy and girl,
Every woman and child.
Every father and son.
I said now everyone,
Yes now everyone.
Everybody needs a human touch.
Everybody, everybody needs love.
Im no different,
I am just the same,
A player in the game.
Absolutely everybody.

Peace!

A dark parody of Edwin Starr's War
Meant as satire only!

Peace! Huh-Yeah!
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing
Uh-huh

Peace! Huh-Yeah!
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing
Say it again y'all

Peace! Huh-Good God!
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing
Listen to me...

Ohhh....Peace!
I despise
Because it means no innocent lives lost
Not one single one
Damn!

Peace means joy in thousands of mother's eyes
When their sons get to stay home
Don't have to fight our war
Staying alive
What the hell fun is that
If there's no war to watch on my tv tonight

I said-peace! Huh-Good God y'all
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing
Say it again

Peace! Whoa, Lord
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing
Listen to me...

Peace! It ain't nothing but a party wrecker
Peace! It ain't no friend at all to this undertaker
Peace! It's an enemy to all in my line of work
The thought of peace makes me wanna take a gun and blow my brains way
Yeah! It does!

Peace has caused happiness in the younger generation
No induction
No destruction

Absolutely Nothings Changed

Absolutely nothings changed
This is my heart talking
Its time to face reality
This spell Im under cant last much longer
Any fool can see
You come here with your promises
But I remember all the lies
I bought the laughter happy ever after
How could I be so blind so blind
Chorus
cause absolutely nothings changed
You play with my emotions
Ill live to fight another day
I m bruised but I ain t broken I aint broken
Now you say youre sorry
For everything you put me through
You wanna make up I just gotta wake up
Its the same old you
The same old you
Chorus
cause absolutely nothings changed
You play with my emotions
Ill live to fight another day
Im bruised but I aint broken aint broken
Ooh Ive been dreaming but its over now bad dreams are over now
Im gonna rise up rise above all the troubles and tears Im down but I aint out
Play with my emotions I maybe bruised I aint broken
cause absolutely nothings changed
At last my eyes are open
Im gonna live to fight another day
I maybe bruised but I ain t broken aint broken
cause absolutely nothings changed
Absolutely nothing
Ill live to fight another day
I maybe bruised but I ain t broken
cause absolutely nothings changed
Abolutely nothing
Im gonna live to fight another day I maybe bruised but I ain t broken
cause absolutely nothings changed

War

War
What is it good for
Absolutely nothing
War
What is it good for
Absolutely nothing
War is something that I despise
For it means destruction of innocent lives
For it means tears in thousands of mothers eyes
When their sons go out to fight to give their lives
War
What is it good for
Absolutely nothing
Say it again
War
What is it good for
Absolutely nothing
War
Its nothing but a heartbreaker
War
Friend only to the undertaker
War is the enemy of all mankind
The thought of war blows my mind
Handed down from generation to generation
Induction destruction
Who wants to die
War
What is it good for
Absolutely nothing
Say it again
War
What is it good for
Absolutely nothing
War has shattered many young mens dreams
Made them disabled bitter and meanlife is too precious to be fighting wars
Each day
War cant give life it can only take it away
War
Its nothing but a heartbreaker
War
Friend only to the undertaker
Peace love and understanding
There must be some place for these things today
They say we must fight to keep our freedom
But lord theres gotta be a better way
Thats better than
War
War
What is it good for
Absolutely nothing

Did I Fool Ya?

when daddy sings
hes an auctioneer, auctioneer.
and mother clings to anniversaries.
and his sister, shes got a little bit of mister in her
and her brothers goin round, round, round his bed
and i said, and i say
I say, well believe what i say
i said, did i, did i, fool ya, fool ya
well didnt daddy fool ya?
he sang once and a goin twice
hes gone for 35 or 40
and he go, once and a goin twice
hes gone for 35... SOLD to the middle line.
they go once and a goin twice
and aint it nice?
and oh lord they made it up to 65
they go once and a goin twice
and aint it nice? aint it nice oh aint it nice?
... said aint it nice for the price?
i said i got a nice life for the price is right
body rock, rody bock
and they boss, said a come on down, down, down
said come on down.
youre the next big winner
so come on down
oh oh oh
but i, but i, i said i
i give and give and i lay it all down now
well look what ive found
i give and give
i said i give and give and i lay it all down
now look what ive found, ah look what ive found
blue skies, theyre smiling at me
and thats my favorite melody.
but i cant read and i cant read and
i cant read between the things unseen
and i dont mind and i dont mind and i dont mind
if i dont find because ive tried
im absolutely definite
absolutley positive
absolutely definetly positive.
im absolutely definite
absolutley positive
absolutely definetly positive
im absolutely definite
absolutley positive
absolutely definetly positive.
and im absolutely definite
absolutley positive
absolutely definetly positively represented.

Smile Or Frown

Pairs of opposites
Half of them parasites
In the lives of mortals
Invading their portals!

Smile and frown one such
World of difference so much!

Smile attracts, Frown repels
Smile wins, Frown loses
Smile befriends, Frown alienates
Smile infuses love, Frown injects hatred
Smile encourages, Frown deserts
Smile strengthens, Frown weakens
Smile carries, Frown throws off

Humans alone can control
And conquer to play their role!

Sport the smile
Bid adieu to frown
Make others happy
Feel really merry!

Up Yours

(E. Stefani)
Mmmm I'll put up with you in the morning
And I'll put up with you in the night
I'll put up with you anytime
Oh being with you's such a delight
I'll put up with you and your boyfriends
And I'll put up with you and your family
I'll put up with you and the inlaws
If they can put up with me
I'll put up with your complaining
And I'll put up with your needs
I'll put up with you messin' around
You can go but once more with me (?)
I'll put up with you and your smoking
And I'll put up with you and your dirty deeds
I'll put up with you and your cussin'
You don't know how happy you would make me
I want you sugar yeah hey woo hoo hoo hoo
And baby I got to - I know I have to
I put my love around you honey (?)
(?)
I want you need you so bad
Oh you put up with me (?)
Ooh I'll put up
I'll put up, I'll put up, I'll put up
I'll put up with your last name
And I'll put up with you and not kiss my lips
I'll put up with you not missin' me
Though down deep inside I wish you would change
Though down deep inside I wish you would change
Though down deep inside I wish you would change
Though down deep inside I wish you would change

I Am Available

when you are sad and lonely
come to me
i am available
when you are rejected and
feeling unwanted come to me again
for i am always available
when you feel that the world is against you
come to me
i am available
when you are lost and need guidance
come to me i am still available

oh, our mutual miseries
always need faithful and available

come to me then
i am like you i am available.

Smiles

Smiles, I was taught never to smile
I was told the stylish smiles of buffoonery
Chicanery and larceny abound
My mom said unless someone sticks you right in front of a camera
A smile is the last thing that you wanna do
Those smiles, those mirthless toothy smiles
Smiles, they all smile on tv
The quizmaster with his withered crones
The talkshow hosting movie stars, the politician licking feet
The mugger, the rapist, the arsonic lover
All smile out from the news, at one time or another
Those smiles, those garish sickly smiles
When I was young my mother said to me
Never, ever, let anyone see that youre happy
Smiles, never, ever let them see you smile
Theyll always put you down
With those smiles, never, ever let them see you smile
Theyll always put you down
With your smiles, never, ever let them see you smile
Dont you know theyll make you go
Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo
Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo
Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo
Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo
(doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo
Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo)

Dont Put Me Out

Baby now I realize
All of those times I told you I loved you
I just didnt show it
Im sorry
Dont put me out
Dont put me out
Dont put me out
Dont put me out
Dont put me out
Dont put me out
Dont put me out
Dont put me out
Dont put me out
Dont put me out
I remember when you said to me
Dont talk about it be about it
I should have felt you when you said
To me that you were all alone
I act like I was doin a favor
For you cuz you were wit me
Something let me thinking that whatever happens
This would be my home
But I was wrong (I was wrong)
How could I have been so low
(how could I have been so low)
I wrote a song all about it
(took a pen and wrote a song)
Wanna hear it, here it go, from now on
1 - i wont talk about lovin you
Cuz Im gonna be about lovin you
I wont talk about comin home
Cuz Im gonna be about comin home
I wont talk about both of us
Cuz Im gonna be about both of us
I wont talk about makin sweet love
Cuz Im gonna be about makin sweet love
Now I remember when we used the crib in studio 12a
Clothes and pallets on the floor makin sweet love night till day
Used to say I wanna have a baby boy and call him man
But now its all gone up in smoke and baby I dont understand
All I know that is I was wrong
(dead wrong, yeah)
How could I have stooped so low
(how could I have stooped so low)
I wrote a song about it
(wrote a song)
Wrote about it, here it go, from now on
Repeat 1
Now all the money in the world couldnt add up to what you did
Cuz when I was down and out you took the burden off of me

Inside The Puppet Head

As your body floats down third street
With the burn-smell factory closing up
Yes its sad to say you will romanticize
All the things youve known before
It was not not not so great
It was not not not so great
And as you take a bath in that beaten path
Theres a pounding at the door
Well its a mighty zombie talking of some love and posterity
He says the good old days never say good-bye
If you keep this in your mind:
You need some lo-lo-loving arms
You need some lo-lo-loving arms
And as you fall from grace the only words you say are
Put your hand inside the puppet head
Put your hand inside the puppet head
Put your hand inside
Put your hand inside
Put your hand inside the puppet head
Ads up in the subway are the work of someone
Trying to please their boss
And though the guys a pig we all know what he wants
Is just to please somebody else
If the pu-pu-puppet head
Was only bu-bu-busted in
It would be a better thing for everyone involved
And we wouldnt have to cry
Put your hand inside the puppet head
Put your hand inside the puppet head
Put your hand inside
Put your hand inside
Put your hand inside the puppet head
Memo to myself: do the dumb things I gotta do
Touch the puppet head
Quit my job down at the carwash
Didnt have to write no-one a good-bye note
That said, the checks in the mail, and
Ill see you in church, and dont you ever change
If the pu-pu-puppet head

Ill see you after school

Put your hand inside the puppet head

VII. Pompilia

I am just seventeen years and five months old,
And, if I lived one day more, three full weeks;
'T is writ so in the church's register,
Lorenzo in Lucina, all my names
At length, so many names for one poor child,
—Francesca Camilla Vittoria Angela
Pompilia Comparini,—laughable!
Also 't is writ that I was married there
Four years ago: and they will add, I hope,
When they insert my death, a word or two,—
Omitting all about the mode of death,—
This, in its place, this which one cares to know,
That I had been a mother of a son
Exactly two weeks. It will be through grace
O' the Curate, not through any claim I have;
Because the boy was born at, so baptized
Close to, the Villa, in the proper church:
A pretty church, I say no word against,
Yet stranger-like,—while this Lorenzo seems
My own particular place, I always say.
I used to wonder, when I stood scarce high
As the bed here, what the marble lion meant,
With half his body rushing from the wall,
Eating the figure of a prostrate man—
(To the right, it is, of entry by the door)
An ominous sign to one baptized like me,
Married, and to be buried there, I hope.
And they should add, to have my life complete,
He is a boy and Gaetan by name—
Gaetano, for a reason,—if the friar
Don Celestine will ask this grace for me
Of Curate Ottoboni: he it was
Baptized me: he remembers my whole life
As I do his grey hair.

All these few things
I know are true,—will you remember them?
Because time flies. The surgeon cared for me,
To count my wounds,—twenty-two dagger-wounds,
Five deadly, but I do not suffer much—
Or too much pain,—and am to die to-night.

Oh how good God is that my babe was born,
—Better than born, baptized and hid away
Before this happened, safe from being hurt!
That had been sin God could not well forgive:
He was too young to smile and save himself.
When they took two days after he was born,
My babe away from me to be baptized
And hidden awhile, for fear his foe should find,—

Smile For Me

'Smile for me!

Is somebody waiting for me?

She took this picture

Did she take it for me?

Time is ticking,

Her smile insists, just to tell her was she waiting me?

When she smiles, I feel it, I know, I see it.

When she’s happy,

Smiles so bright, gives me another reason

For her her I’d fight!

I am happy when she’s happy

I smile when she smiles

I face the fact that it’s just her smile.

But I know inside,

Deep inside that smile,

She smiles for me, just for awhile.

A picture perfected, you should see

I just love it when she smiles for me.

She inspires me to reach out my hand

Hold her close

Let her stand

The Rosciad

Unknowing and unknown, the hardy Muse
Boldly defies all mean and partial views;
With honest freedom plays the critic's part,
And praises, as she censures, from the heart.

Roscius deceased, each high aspiring player
Push'd all his interest for the vacant chair.
The buskin'd heroes of the mimic stage
No longer whine in love, and rant in rage;
The monarch quits his throne, and condescends
Humbly to court the favour of his friends;
For pity's sake tells undeserved mishaps,
And, their applause to gain, recounts his claps.
Thus the victorious chiefs of ancient Rome,
To win the mob, a suppliant's form assume;
In pompous strain fight o'er the extinguish'd war,
And show where honour bled in every scar.
But though bare merit might in Rome appear
The strongest plea for favour, 'tis not here;
We form our judgment in another way;
And they will best succeed, who best can pay:
Those who would gain the votes of British tribes,
Must add to force of merit, force of bribes.
What can an actor give? In every age
Cash hath been rudely banish'd from the stage;
Monarchs themselves, to grief of every player,
Appear as often as their image there:
They can't, like candidate for other seat,
Pour seas of wine, and mountains raise of meat.
Wine! they could bribe you with the world as soon,
And of 'Roast Beef,' they only know the tune:
But what they have they give; could Clive do more,
Though for each million he had brought home four?
Shuter keeps open house at Southwark fair,
And hopes the friends of humour will be there;
In Smithfield, Yates prepares the rival treat
For those who laughter love, instead of meat;
Foote, at Old House,--for even Foote will be,
In self-conceit, an actor,--bribes with tea;
Which Wilkinson at second-hand receives,
And at the New, pours water on the leaves.
The town divided, each runs several ways,
As passion, humour, interest, party sways.
Things of no moment, colour of the hair,
Shape of a leg, complexion brown or fair,
A dress well chosen, or a patch misplaced,
Conciliate favour, or create distaste.
From galleries loud peals of laughter roll,
And thunder Shuter's praises; he's so droll.
Embox'd, the ladies must have something smart,

Lonely, Desparate, And Pathetic

Are you lonely?
Are you desperate?
Are you absolutely pathetic?

Just maybe.
Just maybe.

Shame, shame.
Calling names, never letting it go.
Don't you know?

Are you lonely?
Are you desperate?
Are you absolutely pathetic?

Just maybe.
Just maybe.

Paper cuts to the skin, call it cutting yourself.
Self mutilation, with the light touch.
Come on what joke I'd have more fun snorting line of coke.
Never done it, cause like you paper cuts its absolutely pointless.

Are you lonely?
Are you desperate?
Are you absolutely pathetic?

Just maybe.
Just maybe.

Giving all your money to men just so they will stay.
Then when they leave because you have no more.
You cut yourself yet again.
Like that's the cure.
You continuously try to get em back with desperate acts.
I would call you a prostitute but you got it all backwards.

Are you lonely?
Are you desperate?
Are you absolutely pathetic?

Just maybe.
Just maybe.

When you get angry you just stare so teary eyed like a puppy dog who's so alone.
You spit in the nice guys face an expect him to stay.
Well I say no way.
Girl your broken.
Money is no object to me.
So to throw it in my direction.

Economy, A Rhapsody, Addressed to Young Poets

Insanis; omnes gelidis quaecunqne lacernis
Sunt tibi, Nasones Virgiliosque vides.
~Mart.
Imitation.

--Thou know'st not what thou say'st;
In garments that scarce fence them from the cold
Our Ovids and our Virgils you behold.

Part first.

To you, ye Bards! whose lavish breast requires
This monitory lay, the strains belong;
Nor think some miser vents his sapient saw,
Or some dull cit, unfeeling of the charms
That tempt profusion, sings; while friendly Zeal,
To guard from fatal ills the tribe he loves,
Inspires the meanest of the Muse's train!
Like you I loathe the grovelling progeny,
Whose wily arts, by creeping time matured,
Advance them high on Power's tyrannic throne,
To lord it there in gorgeous uselessness,
And spurn successless Worth that pines below!
See the rich churl, amid the social sons
Of wine and wit, regaling! hark, he joins
In the free jest delighted! seems to show
A meliorated heart! he laughs, he sings!
Songs of gay import, madrigals of glee,
And drunken anthems, set agape the board,
Like Demea, in the play, benign and mild,
And pouring forth benevolence of soul,
Till Micio wonder; or, in Shakspeare's line,
Obstreperous Silence, drowning Shallow's voice,
And startling Falstaff, and his mad compeers.
He owns 'tis prudence, ever and anon
To smooth his careful brow, to let his purse
Ope to a sixpence's diameter!
He likes our ways; he owns the ways of wit
Are ways of pleasance, and deserve regard.
True, we are dainty good society,
But what art thou? Alas! consider well,
Thou bane of social pleasure, know thyself:
Thy fell approach, like some invasive damp
Breathed through the pores of earth from Stygian caves
Destroys the lamp of mirth; the lamp which we,
Its flamens, boast to guard: we know not how,
But at thy sight the fading flame assumes
A ghastly blue, and in a stench expires.
True, thou seem'st changed; all sainted, all enskied:
The trembling tears that charge thy melting eyes

Put Your Foot On the Pedal

No ember that you've struck...
Could heat up a fire burning out.
And no engine that is cool...
Should keep ready,
For a driver who ain't behind the wheel.
Or thinking that a boost,
Is not needed to get started.

You gotta give up,
Mo' steam.
And get up offa that...
Low self-esteem.

You gotta give up,
Mo' steam.
And get up offa that,
Low self-esteem.

Put your foot on the pedal,
And steer me to all your needs.
Put your foot on the pedal.
Put the pedal to the metal.

Put your foot on the pedal,
And steer me to all your needs.
Put your foot on the pedal.
Put the pedal to the metal.

Put that pedal to the metal,
If you wanna get with me.
Put your foot on the pedal.
Put that pedal to the metal.

Put your foot on the pedal,
And steer me to all your needs.
Put your foot on the pedal.
Put the pedal to the metal.

No ember that you've struck...

The House Of Dust: Complete

I.

The sun goes down in a cold pale flare of light.
The trees grow dark: the shadows lean to the east:
And lights wink out through the windows, one by one.
A clamor of frosty sirens mourns at the night.
Pale slate-grey clouds whirl up from the sunken sun.

And the wandering one, the inquisitive dreamer of dreams,
The eternal asker of answers, stands in the street,
And lifts his palms for the first cold ghost of rain.
The purple lights leap down the hill before him.
The gorgeous night has begun again.

'I will ask them all, I will ask them all their dreams,
I will hold my light above them and seek their faces.
I will hear them whisper, invisible in their veins . . .'
The eternal asker of answers becomes as the darkness,
Or as a wind blown over a myriad forest,
Or as the numberless voices of long-drawn rains.

We hear him and take him among us, like a wind of music,
Like the ghost of a music we have somewhere heard;
We crowd through the streets in a dazzle of pallid lamplight,
We pour in a sinister wave, ascend a stair,
With laughter and cry, and word upon murmured word;
We flow, we descend, we turn . . . and the eternal dreamer
Moves among us like light, like evening air . . .

Good-night! Good-night! Good-night! We go our ways,
The rain runs over the pavement before our feet,
The cold rain falls, the rain sings.
We walk, we run, we ride. We turn our faces
To what the eternal evening brings.

Our hands are hot and raw with the stones we have laid,
We have built a tower of stone high into the sky,
We have built a city of towers.

Our hands are light, they are singing with emptiness.
Our souls are light; they have shaken a burden of hours . . .
What did we build it for? Was it all a dream? . . .
Ghostly above us in lamplight the towers gleam . . .
And after a while they will fall to dust and rain;
Or else we will tear them down with impatient hands;
And hew rock out of the earth, and build them again.

II.

Rosalind and Helen: a Modern Eclogue

ROSALIND, HELEN, and her Child.

SCENE. The Shore of the Lake of Como.

HELEN
Come hither, my sweet Rosalind.

Of woven hair, which thou wilt not disown,
Turn, as 't were but the memory of me,
And not my scornèd self who prayed to thee!

ROSALIND

And hear frail Helen? I would flee
Thy tainting touch; but former years
Arise, and bring forbidden tears;
