The past and the future have no bearings.

How many beauties have lived!
How many wonders have happened!
How many inventions and ruins!
This is before my birth took place.

How many beauties would arrive!
How many wonders would happen!
How many inventions and ruins!
This is after my death takes place.

I live and leave unaffected
By the time past and future.

What Have I?

What have I, save what you've given?
Nothing, surely nothing I would keep.
What have I, save the love that's livin'
inside my heart where it did creep?
Slowly it showed me what it's like
to feel at peace each day.
Never to question why it came
and never to have to think or say
why?

What have I, save the moments we've spent,
vacant spaces that do not count?
What have I, save the contemplation
that those spaces don't amount
to anything as meaningful to my life
as the moments that define
how I feel on every day
just because you're mine?

What have I, save how you've loved me?
Nothing, surely nothing I would need.
What have I, save how you allowed me
to be myself in every deed?
And to follow my path wherever it leads
and to know without exception
you join with me
and you let me see
that I never have to ask
Why?

What Have Happened To Us? ? ?

What have happened to us
Where has gone the love
Once upon the time
When it was summer time
You and I once fail in love so tight
Tell me my beloved
What has happened to greatest love you've told me about
I were the angel that you've swore won't ever live without
Who's strength had blinded my eye light
How love emotions have taken flight
You were precious then my sight
Because of you I gave fight
For your love with everyone around
while I were left without
Despite of people's blaming eyes for your sake I've fought
My wounds became the pleasure Of people's blessing mouth
Bloody tears you've left behind
They've became my companions every single night
You've taken away my heart delight
Memories are still there hanged so tight
Lost are inside me still feelings of thrust Ah my beloved they've taken with you flight.

What Have We Learned From History

What have we learned from history little if anything
Of war men and war heroes their praises we still sing
Humankind have come far in technology and on the moon surface have trod
And still we fight for our Nation's flag and go to war for our God.

What have we learned from history not much if you ask me
We still have wars and famines and we still have poverty
And we still have this awful thing called ethnic cleansing and we still have refugees
And we still wage war on Mother Earth and we still pollute her seas.

What have we learned from history if anything at all
Before the baby has to walk the baby has to learn to crawl
And life is just a learning curve or so we have been told
But few of those who lack wisdom in their twenties grow wiser as they grow old.

What have we learned from history we have learned to populate
And by bulldozing more virgin woodlands more diseases we create
We pollute Mother Earth who feeds us and our successes seem so few
And that the World would do nicely without us only happens to be true.

What have we learned from history go ask one wiser than I
The World is far more polluted now than when I was a boy
And history has a habit of repeating itself a wise one once did say
And I've not learned from history though I grow old and gray.

What have we to give, anyway?

everything we see in this world seem pointless
we begin to be like ordinary routines
everyday, this everyday, so dulling and lulling
the boredom that becomes a kingdom
the pointers that do not work
what they say have become lies
and so useless
we want to prove that we make the difference?
when we arrived here that circle is already a circle
and triangles have always remained triangles
the clouds cottony and always drift
and the roving rivers always flow to the sea
never to itself and be so salty and bloated

what is the point then of my being here?
i have nothing to prove to myself
much less to you whom i do not really know
you have been a secret to yourself
and i have also curled to myself
like a comma to my phrases

i never asked to be here
that is the point and that will make the point pointless
there were no conditions attached
there was no contract that beforehand i signed
and so? What is the difference?

come let us play under the sun
let us plunge into the river of life
it is meant to be fun
there are no bills to pay for this life
freely given and must freely be returned
there is only this play and we take the games
the masks we wear if you flare and dare
and then if you are really honest enough
with nothing to prove with nothing to be proud of
take this nudity plunging into the river of life
without guilt without shame because we were all
born naked and too innocent
because we are the children of God

and like fathers and mothers
God only wants us to run and play and smile
and be with him, what more can we give, anyway?

Proud self-righteous one, do you offer now
Your righteousness and morality?
Does God need them? Or does God love you?
May God have mercy. God has always been Love.
Why worry brother and sister? Smile and be happy.

What Have You Done To Me

What have you done to me
I feel like I'm losing my mind
Though we hardly talked
Each time I think of you
I can think of nothing else
If I must survive?
I must run away from you
To a far away place
Is there any far away place
Where no love is?

An Afterlife Without Those We Have Loved In This World

An afterlife without those we have loved in this world
Is no real afterlife at all-

All the soul swooning and Gemara learning and mystical Union
Is not enough-

If we are going to continue to live
Let it be with those we love closer to God.

What have I done, dear, to you....

I feel and ask myself, my love!
What have I done, dear, to you....

Whenever she quarrels frequently
and finds fault with me unnecessarily,
I used to ask myself, 'What have
I done, dear, to you?

Now I understand, 'she thinks that
my love and me are unnecessary'!
What have I done, dear, to you....

All These Words and What Have I Done with Them?

All these words
And what have I done with them?

No one cares
And no one has been helped
And no one has found in them
What I wanted there to be in them.

All these words
And what is worse perhaps
The years ahead
To still try and write
The real thing
And go on failing more despairingly.

What Have We Become?

Dedication, Consideration, Appreciation, Integration
Good feelings how they soar,
Adoration, Commendation, Elation and Restoration
We must not ignore.

Discrimination, Vulgarization, Segregation, Retaliation
Evil is the rule of thumb,
Annihilation, Castration, Extermination and Condemnation
What have we become?

What Have I Done

In the dark of the night
I feel your energy strong
A shadow passes the room
Your presence there belongs
What Have I Done
I'm not afraid as I wait
Coldness touches my face
You are so remembered
As you start taking shape
What Have I Done
The smell of floral scent
A breeze of air in the mist
You approach closely near
As my little heart so skips
What Have I Done

What Have I Done?

WHAT HAVE I DONE?

What have I done?
Who am I?
There has been so much before me
There will be so much after me
And I in my small interval.
What have I done?
What will I be?

The people of Israel
Before me
And after me
Is this enough?

God before and after all?
What does this mean?
How will we be a part of it?
God Before and After All,
What about us?
Will we still be?

God before and after all.

What have I got to do?

What have I got to do to get the lightning
that crackles between you and me
here on paper?

Just as I try to catch
the part that bind us
my words become skew, or oblique or something.

It is as if I just cannot let it last
as if it flashes somewhere else
when I try to reach for it

as if far too quickly it strikes and perishes
never lasting long enough
and still I know
that there’s something between you and me,

something that people call love, some passion
but between us it’s much more
and something that you cannot really ward off
that crackles by itself.

Sonnet 47: What, Have I thus Betray'd

What, have I thus betray'd my liberty?
Can those black beams such burning marks engrave In my free side? or am I born a slave,
Whose neck becomes such yoke of tyranny?

Or want I sense to feel my misery?
Or sprite, disdain of such disdain to have,
Who for long faith, though daily help I crave,
May get no alms but scorn of beggery?

Virtue awake, beauty but beauty is;
I may, I must, I can, I will, I do
Leave following that, which it is gain to miss.

Let her go! Soft, but here she comes. Go to,
Unkind, I love you not. Oh me, that eye
Doth make my heart give to my tongue the lie.

What Have I To Fear?

if death be but a step,
a flower fallen with silent shouts...
a kiss blown by wind but never lost,
a friend who tends the grave.
a hymn, a prayer, kind words spoken,
a drink at a corner table.
a book placed back on the shelf,
a child's drawing done in crayon.
a door closed, left unlocked,
cattle left in the pasture all night.
an empty bowel, a candle burned down,
a sparrow sitting outside the window.
a shovel of dirt, a broken glass,
boots left in the corner.
the dog's leg cocked,
the fire burned down....
the still darkness waiting on dawn.
the river overflowed,
the cage door opened...
then what have i to fear?

What Have I Done

WHAT HAVE I DONE! ? !

what did i mean to do?

ITS SO SAD, WHAT I HAVE DONE TO YOU.

but i didn't mean too.

FORGIVE ME...

and i'm asking you to forget.

IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK?

am i being selfish?

OH! WHAT HAVE I DONE?

i was just a young girl being dumb.

SO BELIEVE ME-WHEN I SAY,

what can i do to take yo pain away?

WHAT CAN I TELL YOU,

what can i say?

I TOLD YOU I'M SORRY, AND YOU SAID

ok,

BUT DO YOU WISH FOR ME TO GO AWAY?

oh! why me, why me!

I DO NOT DESERVE TO BE CALLED YOUR WIFEY!

yet...my heart belongs to you...

I FEEL WHAT YOU ARE GOING THREW.

so if you must-

I WILL UNDERSTAND,

because i know what i have did.

What Have I Done Wrong?

Here again to show the sadness, pain, and grief
Not of lost love, but a pain so bleak
A life that seems so meek
A darkened shadow that creeps it way to kill
To kill the ones who show no lives, low-lives

A time shall come when a time shall pass
A time when time has started to tick, to click
Madness fills the veins of grief
Insanity thrives even deeper

But a time shall come when the grasses shall grow green
The sky will be blue, and the storm will calm
The mind will ease, the heart will slow
And a new life begins

Now the new life has begun, but pain still thrives
And grief and hatred are still strong
Happiness is losing
Excitement long gone
What have I done wrong?

What Have They Done to the San Francisco Bay?

What have they done to my Bay
It's yours too you should know
What's been done didn't all happen
Wednesday November 7,2007

The Bay has been shrinking for years
The edges keep getting filled and built on
There's parts best not to get too close to
During low tides - - it stinks

What stinks could be
The effulent that's flowed and flowed in - -
Could be thousands of car tires
And larger machine parts

Know someone gone missing - -
They could be stuck there too
Along with
God knows what

Incoming and outgoing tides
Can clean up just so much
What has been allowed
To be added is a crime

Tides were not intended to flush
Unlimited human waste
Add to that heavy fog
A heavily loaded container ship

A single walled hull
Built for weight and fuel economey
Now that is just too ironic
I hoped they saved enough

To pay for all this
The Coso Busan has only added
Fifty-eight thousand gallons of bunker oil
To a much larger problem

What Have We Got To Learn From Nature

What have we got to learn from Nature the more arrogant and ignorant do say
But from the life forms that live all around us we learn something new every day
'Tis not out of love or of passion that the songbird does bother to sing
But to defend his Nesting borders with him song is a territorial thing.

So little we know about Nature of her so much to learn and know
And the more that we do learn of her the more our awe of her does grow
The migratory birds from their Wintering grounds in Spring do fly home for to breed
The map of the World in their small brains a mystery of Nature indeed.

I believe us Humans too are Nature's life forms though many may say that is wrong
That only to Animists and Atheists such thinking could only belong
But everyone's entitled to their opinion and most believe their opinion to be right
And opinions are just that opinions to argue about not to fight.

Yet what have we got to learn from Nature from that point let us not stray
From her something new we can learn every day
And no greater teacher than her 'twould seem fair to say
Though her secrets from us she keeps hidden away.

What Have You Done To My Lover?

You said you would 'always' love me.
It seems not too long ago.
And then,
We invited the increase of bills to come in.

Taxes on a monthly mortgage grew.
And every few years,
There was a need to exchange two cars...
For ones that were new.

And those precious innocent children,
We once held in our arms to adore...
Now tell us where to go, what to kiss...
And when we get done,
What to ourselves we should do...
Before they leave to slam either front or back doors.

And the expense of keeping up with the neighbors,
Has had us seeking additional employment...
Since the effects of the economy,
Has us reacting to each other...
As if we are terrified to sleep with the 'enemy'.

I know on some nights,
I'd rather keep on all the lights!

Personally...
I have become saddened by this!
The person I fell in love with,
I don't recognize anymore.

You spend every available dime we have,
On gym dues and annual make-overs...
We simply can not afford.

Who are you?
And what have you done to my lover?

You said you would 'always' love me.
It seems not too long ago.
And then,
We invited the increase of bills to come in.
And they are about to throw us out of our own house.
