You Are The Storm

(matraca berg / ronnie samoset)
I see you standing there
Outside the windows of my heart
So cold and shivering
There in your world that is so dark
I wish that I could set you free
From all your insecurities
But you threw away the key
When you locked the door
I tried to love you
I tried to keep you from harm
But I might as well be
Holding the wind in my arms
Oh, I cant give you shelter
When you are the storm
There is a wind tonight
That blows and chills me to the bone
Here by the fireside
Even the heat cant keep me warm
Im haunted by your troubled soul
That rages out of control
I had to let you go
Had to let you go
I tried to love you
I tried to keep you from harm
But I might as well be
Holding the wind in my arms
Oh, I cant give you shelter
When you are the storm
Sometimes I lie here and wonder
If youll ever change
Then I hear the lightning and thunder
Oh, and the rain
Oh, I tried to love you
And I tried to keep you from harm
But I might as well be
Holding the wind in my arms
Oh, I cant give you shelter
You are the storm
Oh, I cant give you shelter
You are the storm
Oh, oh, oh, oh

With You All The Time

I live beneath the heart
I watch you from the dark
I'm every breath I'm every dream
I've known you forever
I've followed you everywhere
I'm every scar I'm who you are
when you think you're alone
when you cry cos someone's unfair
you can rest assured I'm always there

even when you feel like you don't belong
even when you fall and it all goes wrong
you know that I'm with you
that I'm with you all the time

say a little prayer for the restless heart
we shall never ever drift apart
know that I'm with you
know that I'm with you
with you all the time

I'm walking round the room
I'm laughing when you smile
and when you cry I cry too
I made you a promise
that I shall forever be
you're on your own but not alone
when you're down and you're rife
and the world tells you no-one cares
you can rest assured im always there

even when you feel like you dont belong
even when you fall and it all goes wrong
you know that I'm with you
that I'm with you all the time

say a little prayer for the restless heart
we shall never ever drift apart
know that I'm with you
know that I'm with you
with you all the time

save a little love for me
you'll see
save a little love for me
you'll see
save a little love for me
you'll see
and you'll see

even when you feel like you dont belong
even when you fall and it all goes wrong
you know that I'm with you
that I'm with you all the time

say a little prayer for the restless heart
we shall never ever drift apar
know that I'm with you
know that I'm with you
with you all the time

you know that I'm with you
that I'm with you all the time

say a little prayer for the restless heart
we shall never ever drift apart
know that im with you
know that im with you
with you all the time

Did You Read The Morning Papers?

(nickolas ashford/valerie simpson/r. monica)
Did you read the morning paper
Did you see the front headline
Did you read the morning paper
Baby let me lend you mine
There on the front page was a picture
Of a crowd as they watched a parade passing by
And through the haze of last nights sleep
Something familiar caught my eye
There was a couple looking so much in love, yes
They had a front line view
And as I pulled the paper closer
I realized standing next to her it was you
Did you read the morning paper
Did you see the front headline
Did you read the morning paper
Baby let me lend you mine
Now I know why youve been working late each night
And no longer have desire to ever hold me tight
And your busy, busy schedule was all a lie
Oh, even the dream with a bonus, oh just another alibi
Did you read the morning paper
Did you see the front headline
Did you read the morning paper
Baby let me lend you mine
Did you get the news today
Did you read the morning paper
Isnt the picture very clear
Where do we go from here
Did you read the morning paper
Did you see the front headlines
Did you read the morning paper
Baby let me lend you mine
Oh, what now
Did you read the morning paper
Did you get the news today

You Were The Very Best

In your eyes I see emptiness
How it hurts me ever so
You don't owe me anything
But I just want you to know
You Were The Very Best
We know its finally over now
There's no turning back again
Something inside if us changed
And this is how we must end
You Were The Very Best
In my thoughts you will stay
Even though we are through
The tears I must try too hide
Because I'll always love you
You Were The Very Best

If You Were The Woman And I Was The Man

If you were the woman and I was the man
Would I send you yellow roses?
Would I dare to kiss your hand?
In the morning would I caress you
as the wind caresses the sand,
If you were the woman and I was the man?
If I was the heart and you were the head
Would you think me very foolish
if one day I decided to shed
these walls that surround me
just to see where these feelings led,
if I was the heart and you were the head?
If I was the woman and you were the man
Would I laugh if you came to me
with your heart in your hand
and said,

Thank You For The Music Dad

You went ahead
To welcome Mom in your arms
Forever holding hands together
In a permanent place you called home

Remembering you made my tears rolling
You are a good provider, our strength
Our teacher, friend and defender

You wanted to fill our home
with laughter and songs
you always smile, hear our cries
you cover us with your mantle of love

you never disciplined us with your stick
you taught us how to listen, not to be judgmental
to love and to be sensitive
to the needs of others

I always run to you when i am down
begging you to listen to all my woes
and you just embrace me, whispering..
'all is well, don't give up..
we have a God who hears you in heaven above'

Your music is your life
You wanted us to make music our life, too
Little did i know..that the music you taught me
Is the very music that will keep me through

Thank you for the music, the singing and the laughter
It echoed in my heart and my very soul
Thank you for all the wonderful things you did to me
Thank you for making me the kind of person
The Lord wanted me to be

I LOVE YOU DAD..I MISS YOU..

I am sorry, i was not at your beck
To care for you
To hold your trembling hands
You wanted me to stay
But i did follow my heart
To a place where i know
I can be at peace

You promised to love Mom until the end
Praising God to no end
And i am here
Promising to see you all
When my time comes
There are plenty of rooms for the three of us
I promise to be good
I promise

a tribute to my loving father..thank you for reading...God bless you

When You Leave The House

i have known a lot of reasons why
you leave this house, you want to go shopping early morning
when the malls are still closed, but i do not really mind,
i think i understand (how is it when love starts to wane
like a diminishing moon last night, giving its final light
for the month) ,
you say you want to visit your mother you claim she is sick and
dying, i do not really mind at all (you are afraid to face
what faces us, this evident eyes of boredom staring at us
like we are convicts of finally wanting to cease to love)
still i will not mind, you leave again today
the kitchen falls short of shrimps and fish
there is no more lettuce and some black peppers
and red juicy tomatoes, (you are now fond of enumerating
things to me, you count your fingers and your toes and you
do not see straight in my eyes)
the olive oil is gone

yesterday, i spend time alone watching the sunset
on the boulevard (you are not with me)
(i know you want to be preoccupied with something else
some things that do not interest me)
you are not coming home
for a week or two, just a family emergency
in the city where you live
(did you tell me it is very noisy there?)

i watch the sun die finally
it is very peaceful outside
i wait and take my seat calmly on the cold bench
by the sea
there is no moon tonight
there is only this cold wind from the sea from that distant island
on the other side of this routinary existence
touching my heart

it is the longing of distance, the past coming back to me
the sea breeze still salty to my taste
so cold, that i finally shiver and leave at once
i cannot withstand this longing

this night unlike the other nights is darker
but i am still seeing the shadow of your beautiful face

Do You Know the Son?

Do you know the Son, the one the Father gave?
Do you know the Son, who can save you from the grave?
The one who's got the crown from the Father up above?
The Word becoming flesh, to show the Father's love?

The Logos who came to Earth and was born but not by man
But by the Holy Spirit sent down by God's own hand.
The Son born in Bethlehem of Judea on that night;
The Son who is the one, whom in John is called the Light.
Yes, He's called the Light, and that's very true
For He came to light the way for men like me and you.
He is also called the Word, and if you did not know
He is the One who made all things so very long ago.

His name is Yeshua, the Christ, and now I'm telling you
Just what it was that God sent Him into the world to do.
God sent His Son to tell us about ourselves you see -
And how that if we did not change, we would end in misery.
He also showed us how to live and to make it ample;
He lived a life without sin; what a great example.
Now Yeshua is the Son of God and on this Earth he dwelt
'til the age of thirty three and, then the pain He felt.

Men on earth did not care about what He had to say;
All they thought of was themselves, so carted Him away.
And on the hill called Calvary, to a stake these men had made
They nailed my Saviour Yeshua the messuah, and there my debt He paid.
And as the blood poured forth from His hands, feet and side
If I then had been there like now I would have cried;
'cause of something else He had also come to say
Which was this that 'By His death He would take my sin away'
So, if you would believe that Yeshua died for you
Then you will also know your sins are forgiven too;

Do you know the Son, the one the Father gave?
The One called Yeshua, the Messiah, who died for you to save?

1 John 5: 20

It is to be noted that the Lord is not the eternal Son of God, but the Son of the eternal God; for there was no Son until he was born of Miriam, and born again at his resurrection, where it was declared to him by his Father, 'You are my Son, this day have I begotten you' this 'begotten' is reference to his resurrection, for he is the 'FIRSTBORN of many brethern' and 'we' at his coming. For we have been born again unto a living hope, that living hope is our LORD YESHUA/JESUS; for as he was raised to life. So too shall we be so raised if we press forward to the prize of the upward call in Messiah Yeshua our Lord, amen.

You Were The Intimacy

You were the intimacy
of the things I loved
that were so impossibly far away
I could never reach out and touch them
except by touching you.
In the long silence of these past thirty-seven years
I have never been able to look at people again
the way I used to see them before I met you.
There's a fear in the way I love them
that I learned
from living your absence.
A deep black wounded space within
that has sadly outgrown the stars
like October outlives its fireflies.
And every threshold I've crossed ever since
has turned into a long road
with a precipice at the end of my spinal cord
swaying like the first night I met you
on the Capilano Suspension Bridge
and you said
the only way
to overcome your fear of falling
is to have the courage to jump.
And I laughed and said
staring into the gorge
and the thin silver water down below
what's to fear
if you know how to fall toward paradise?
And you knew right away
I was your kind of challenge.
And I knew you wanted
to sword-dance with razorblades
you laid out like the Tarot
later back at your place
as if you wanted to convince yourself
you were still silly enough to believe in tomorrow.
The candle beside the cards on the floor
didn't turn out to be
enough of a lighthouse
to warn us of the approaching storm.
We were sincere in the darkness
for a little while
astounded by the expert innocence
of our mindless flesh.
You shone like the sun at midnight
and I came undone like Icarus
to prove I was falling
without regrets
like a spent star
into the singularity
of a whole new universe
where everything that didn't happen in this one
came uncannily true in the next
for both of us
as if we were at last worthy
in each others' arms
of our own happiness.
When happiness is brave
it's bliss.
And when it's afraid
there's nothing sadder
than a gift that was never opened.
Joy is a warrior that risked hoping
there was nothing left dying for.
Sorrow comes up with a million reasons.
The only way of life
is not making a way of life.
Nor making
not making a way of life
a way.
One day you just get off the road
and start taking the long way home through the starfields.
You stop looking in the mirror
to see if you still have eyes.
For years after your death
no matter what I looked at
I always saw the same thing.
The black clarity
of your existential absence
staring me in the face
without turning me into stone
because that would have been mercy.
Try how I might
I could never quite
shut the lid on your coffin
or accept
that you were buried in me for good
or that my blood burned
like the infernal red
of an emergency exit
to show me the way out
of heaven and hell
by falling on them both
like a two-edged sword
that killed me deeper into life
than your death ever did.
Either life's unfair
or I'm not man enough
to live up to your suicide
but I remember how I used to love
feeling the weight
of the nightstream of your hair
as it poured through my hand
like a landscape that could feel
for the first time in a long time
water running in the dry creekbeds of its lifelines.
Things woke up.
And I saw the flowers
among the thorns
that had been guarding them
like the secret names of God
you had to know
to get past the burning angels
through the gates
of your sad return to Eden alone.
The eloquence of your flesh
when you walked on the earth
as if your heart danced to your blood
like an old song we both knew
now a broken harp of bone,
a wounded guitar,
someone laid down for good.
A prophetic skull
without a future
anyone can foretell.
The full moon going down
like a spare penny
into a dry wishing well.
Me looking at the dark hills
like the contours of your corpse laid out
under a collapsed tent
as they wheeled you into the ambulance
to spend your first vast impossibly long night in the morgue
among the dead
who don't catch their breath
or break their bodies like bread
alone in the stillness
that can't distinguish one death from another.
However I wept for you
all the hard bitter baffled tears
all the sweet radiant wellsprings
that washed the dust like stars
off the wings of the birds
that had laboured to carry the souls of the dead
far to the west
when I remembered
how blessed I really was
that things had been
so beautifully dangerous for awhile.
And all the dark fathomless watersheds of lucidity
I drowned in like a eye in a grail
looking for butterflies in a suicide note.
All the black pearls
the diamond skulls
the eclipsed chalices
all the precious jewels of my grieving
that death hoarded underground
nothing in the end
but nameless water
frozen between the cracks
of a gravestone as old as the moon.
I remember how I loved your ice-blue eyes
and how they burned with an Arctic clarity
you had to dress warmly for
if you didn't want to suffer from frost-bite
but there's more nightshade in them now
than chicory
when I look into them like tundral flowers
and the light turns hurtful and eerie
when I recall how the melting snow
washed itself clean of itself
all those years ago
when we didn't know
what all this meant.
It's of little relevance
that we once loved each other
the way we did
and once you've exhausted
the meaning of signs
like galaxies expanding
ever more deeply into space
less significance.
What does it look like from Mars?
Your death was a koan
not a fortune-cookie
and the koan broke me
like a man it couldn't understand
rationally.
There is no scar for you.
You will always be
this open wound inside of me.
When I look at the stars
I can't dissociate beauty from absurdity.
I cherish their clarity
as something that can't be
contaminated by my eyes
when they're nothing
but two black holes in space
a snake-bite of the light
in the middle of my face
like a colon without the following:
the kind of faith
that makes what little is left
so incommensurably greater than what's been lost.
I can see the blue morning glory in the garden
as if moonlight had turned to skin
just to feel what it's like to flower
but I can't forget the frost
that fell like your death over all of it
when I went so numb
space turned into glass
and time pulled the blind down on the window.
I closed my eyes like a mirror
content to let the stars make sense
of their own reflections.
I gave up on directions
and burned my starmaps
and followed who I was
without caring what I became.
Absolutes of ice
spread like cataracts
over the relativities of the river
that went on flowing
as if nothing had changed
and my life was still a dream without eyelids.
A ghost would be easier to deal with
than the fact
that you don't exist anymore
except as bare bones
denuded of the world
like yarrow sticks
thrown before the Book of Changes.
But then I expect
you'd exorcise yourself
at a suggestion of the night
that the stars would be so much brighter
if you only blew out the candleflame.
You'd do it just to see
if things got better.
You'd leave me in the dark again
staring at the stars
like white ink
on a black loveletter
you left unsigned
as you disappeared into death
like your last breath on a cold windowpane.
I've long since forgiven you my solitude.
I've long since forgiven you
the severity of the wisdom
that hardened my eyes
like diamonds in the darkness
that could cut through anything
except my attachment to you.
I have forgiven you
for the way I have grown through suffering
to realize
how much I owe your death
and the terrible eyeless abyss that followed it
like an enlightened insight
into the impersonal nature of compassion.
I have forgiven you
the way I am spontaneously compelled
to love a world that is so estranged from me
I feel like water on the moon
trying to imagine what it must be like
to fall like rain on the intimate earth
with a reasonable expectation
of coming up flowers
that weren't destined
to be laid on your grave.
I've gone grey gathering them up
and bringing them to you
like bouquets of paints and brushes
that are ready at hand
should you ever wish
to pick them up again
and show me what the world looks like
without a body for a picture-frame
as you play the part of the upstart genius
who lived the black farce of creative pain
like the agony of the wick
burning at the stake like a heretic
between the flesh of the wax
and the spiritual aspirations of the candleflame
thrusting spears into space at the stars
as if the only way you could ever know God
if you ever met up
was by the scars.

No-one See's You In The Rain

no-one see's you in the rain,
it's the perfect way to get lost,
no-one see's you in the rain,
you can cry and no-one can see the cost,
no-one see's you in the rain,
you could die and you just get washed away,
no-one see's you in the rain,
so let it rain every day.

Now I See You, as The Blue Moon

Now I see you full, my love
As the moon, the Blue moon,
I thought, I did see you;
It was the moon, the Gibbous moon.
You smiled, for me, when you were
The moon, the Crescent moon,
With your pain, on your dark.
You laughed, for me, when you were
The moon, the Half moon,
But now I know, that I saw,
Only the moon, the dark moon,
And thought it, to be,
The moon, the full moon.

See You In The Next One (Have A Good Time)

How hard is it for me to wait for you
See you in the next one have a good time
Could be a lifetime before I see you again
See you in the next one have a good time
Eyes they open wide
Eyes they open wide
I like the way
It was hate the way it is now
Lack of time and a wasted week end
You wore your lies like a filmstar
Eyes they open wide
Eyes they open wide
I like the way it was

You are the Unreachable Star

You are my Everyday.
A cup of Tea. A glass of Coffee.
You are a window. The mirror where i
See myself Grieving.

I look at You everyday
And I always ask you to Go with me.
Almost anywhere.
I want to tell you something
That may shake my world
I decided I won't.

I am your Silence Now. And You are my Only Smile.
We are together in this.
You are the farthest star. And here I am The Sun
And the Moon

And the river and the trees. I am everything Now.
Beside You.

You are my tiny star inside the circle of my two fingers.
My eyes are the center looking.

I said, 'See you in the hospital my dear

I said, 'See you in the hospital my dear',
as I watched your mum disappear.
To Dellwood in an ambulance she sped,
'Will it be a girl or a boy', I said.

The telephone rang, 'It's a girl'.
To the hospital I went in a whirl.
Our beautiful Max lay besides her mum.
Little did I know what was to come.

Before your birth I called you Qasimodo.
A great mistake for I wasn't to know.
That eight years later you'd find out
what the name 'Qasi' was all about.

So I promised that I'd pay you 10p
every time that I called you 'little Qasi.'
But it was so difficult for me to quit
and cost a fortune to break the habit

You are sitting on the veranda

You are sitting on the veranda
enjoying the breakfast
of eggs fried with tomato with toast
and huge cups of very special tea
that I had made for you.

Sweet innocence radiates from you
while you watch the blooming
purple irises, some white lilies, pink,
orange and ruby red geraniums
and birds fly down
from the pepper tree
to peck up the seed
that I had put out for them.

There’s a melody in your voice
while you give some toast with Marmite
to the dogs that gather
with twisting tails
to get their treat
and the morning is sweet
and our house is a moated fort,
a treasured place
where only we are locked in.

Love You till The End

I just want to see you
When youre all alone
I just want to catch you if I can
I just want to be there
When the morning light explodes
On your face it radiates
I cant escape
I love you till the end
I just want to tell you nothing
You dont want to hear
All I want is for you to say
Why dont you just take me
Where Ive never been before
I know you want to hear me
Catch my breath
I love you till the end
I just want to be there
When were caught in the rain
I just want to see you laugh not cry
I just want to feel you
When the night puts on its cloak
Im lost for words dont tell me
All I can say
I love you till the end
