When I Was Five
walk to corner store
now gone
candy dots, lipstick,
and dreamsicle
drips on dress
ripped by group
of blue bird girls
on dike
river rushes
danger
unknown man
offers a nickel
for company
sleeps in porch
wood leg on floor
next to B & W television
watch 'Boston Blackie'
eat roast rabbit,
buttered bread
covered with sugar
and milk man smiles
in warm kitchen
door to outside
swing set
swallow
a penny
in pocket
with cracker
jacks
and ball
