Rose Petal Pool

ROSE PETAL POOL
August 1983

Sounds of laughing waters in my thought,
Over the hard flat stones so cool.
A vein of life in my stillness.
Found by the rose-petal pool.
A ripple, not nearly a hope;
Merely a whispering breeze.
A breath of air in my smoke filled room.
To brighten my chamber of dreams.

Rose petal pool, it’s a joy to live.
Enfold my thoughts, as I bathe in yours.
Rose petal pool, it’s a joy to give.
Give reflection to mine, as I give to yours.

Give vision to though!
Give thought to seeing!
Give substance to dreams!
Give essence to being!

I could never ask a lifetime, just the moments and the days.
Give me a while, to build you a smile or two.
A cup of your time, to pour out a rhyme for you.

To build you a dream would be fine, Salind!
Foundations of love, poured in time, Salind!
With pillars of memories shared.
And fears and emotions we’ve bared.
And these things may come, we may find,
But for now, just one day at a time.

August 1983
I had a few dates with a girl named Rosalind. She had a fresh way of looking at things, and we shared some deep conversations. We borrowed Kevin’s canoe and went canoeing at Clairville. My problem was, I was still looking, and I think that causes some kind of pheromonal thing with me. She said she was looking for a forever kind of relationship, but we both knew this was not going to be long term. It served as a good checkpoint along the way though, as we both had the opportunity to examine our motives, our past, and our goals
