After Gym
After gym
before the tediousness
of double maths
she went with you
and sat on the bench
on the playing field
watching the sky
turn from blue
to grey
rain
she said
is on the way
but still you sat
and talked
of this
and that
away from the ears
and tongues
of others
especially
her mother’s
and you knowing
that soon
the bell would ring
for end of recess
and the brainwashing
begin again
and you put out
a hand
and touched hers
feeling excitement
and the start of rain.
