Leper
How can it be?
How can this exist
in today's world?
Is this not
miraculous Twentieth Century?
Do we not live
in an unprecedented age?
An age of revelation.
Are not signs and wonders
seen in hail heavens?
Man has tread
lunar dust
beneath his feet?
Viewed a never before seen
dark side of orbit moon?
Sent probes past
Venus Jupiter
through romantic rings of Saturn.
On voyages to burning suns
that once were twinkling stars.
So how can this be?
Answer question
Lord of Creation!
The prayers!
The midnight call of man!
Here in Middle East
where time is old.
Birth place of artisan
culture learning.
Ancient, wondrous,
civilizations, carved
in monolithic scale, from living rock.
With inspiration dreams
reaching heights,
that can not die. Forever stands.
How can
it still
be how?
I can
not yet
I understand!
Greed; depths
craving wealth;
lust. Fleeced
hearts are driven
exploited beneath
into languish land.
Urchins claw refuse heaps
with hungry;
refuge-seeking hand.
Ask ask for bread
child of life; you ask
too much. Poor young tender child.
Corrupted attaining stations
privileged heights
invoking power.
Which continually condemns.
Play InterNation.
Company political party games.
With fever intensity.
Obsessed monomania; impulse
monetary launders; control disorders;
have no giving hand.
I see I see
rag
muffled head
clothe bound
leper hand.
Festering sores
exposed
for pennies pity
May even fill
a beggar’s bowel.
Oh I cry I cry
for wasted
ravaged face;
rotting
torment beneath;
was once
hopeful part;
of supposed
human humane
human race.
How can this be
how can it be?
I cry I cry in torment.
Mad cries
plead
in chilling night.
Mad dogs
bay without reason.
No pity
fills unseeing sight.
Destitute
of kindness.
In a world
of preventive
medicine.
Innocuous injections.
Leprosy.
Preventable.
Horrifying hideous.
Wasting disease.
Occasion occurrence
in richer climes
like inconvenient aids
a researched promise.
For rapacious;
full-blown social stages.
Would give hope.
To inflicted.
With tormented
heart felt need.
Oh leper
Oh leper alienated.
Hiding your hidden
unseen face.
You are my mother
my own mother.
I decry
plight of callous;
selfish pitiless;
animal human race.
You could be my sister;
my own
flesh brother;
could you be.
My own child
my unborn child.
My child
could cannot;
you be;
must not. My child be.
Sentenced
to twentieth century
curable
death lead
suffering.
Can not. Must not.
Must not be.
Must not.
Delivered born.
Be.
Oh when
will they release;
countless nameless;
suffering millions.
Dying upon
their; flesh corrupted
self eaten;
godhead cross.
Oh Lord I pray.
Open.
Rejuvenate.
Deadened heart of man.
So
such
suffering.
Never
more
can
be.
Mutilated.
Stump remnant
hand.
Fingerless.
Cloth-bound
festering remains.
Disfigurement
seres through
brain mind
bending maim.
It tears
beating
heart.
Through
rotten
ruins
leeching
living
decay.
