Vidarbha Weeps

The woes of the sons toiling in Vidarbha
Have no end ever.
With the 36th farmer of the land embracing death this year
Vidarbha leaves one more sigh subdued.

The brutal hands of the govt machinery
Point finger at the dry masses of the deaf land
Even as the farmers of cotton plead for a helping hand.
Vidarbha becomes a funeral ground!

Mumbai triumphs in filthy riches
A state doomed to salute the heroes there
Sachin, the Kapoors and the Khans
Know not their land or its woes.

A widow smiles above all
One hundred widows can`t do that
A coterie of men with a moving statue in the lead
Await the dictates read from the sky.

A few men in saffron fight for their rod
And frown at their own ghosts emerging ahead.
They swear in the name of their black sheep
Who can take the land to a glory much treaded.

Men in red speak from the chambers dark
Their voice choking within the throats old
All animals have never been equal
Some animals are more equal though.

Vidarbha fades into a dark land of doom`s minion
Even as its tears form into a river of sorrows
That might run into an ocean of floods
The land plunges into sobs orphaned.

Lord Vishnu sighs from the skies above
For having wasted an incarnation through Krishna
He could have fought for these millions of true Pandavas
By storming the palaces of new Kauravas across the land.

Jesus will wait till Egypt and Israel weep together
And the Allah is pleased with the namas at Mecca as usual
The greater and newer Gods know not the woes of a land
'Blessed'by multitudes of older deities in the east.

Vidarbha looks back
And there is none close behind!
But there must run across her
A small rivulet of solace cut by a man in waiting.
