The Sacrifice of Me and Jesus

He said to the Ocean
'how deep your depths,
how many waves
each day crest? '

What mountains
reside
below;
what volcanoes
have you seen
in your watery
life? '

Why must I swim
in you
and risk a drowning
if your waters inside
I breathe? '

What ironies in the ocean blue;
we live each day
with things which both comfort us
and in a long moment
can extinguish us thus?

'What of you Love''
he said
can I swim in you
unmindful that too deep
and my drowning ensues?

Can there be too much Love
Too True?
Must all things be judged
by what is good for me
or what is good for you?

What then of what is good
for someone else
and I then become the willing or un-willing
sacrifice?

If the standard is only what is good for me
there will not ever likely be
civilization
or even family.

So how to judge
about how to act;
shall it be for me
shall it be for us
shall it be for we?

Nature tells us
that all is should be geared
toward the survival of the species;
that individuals therefore
must be sacrificed
and the goal of Life
is Life.

But so hard it is to see
that scheme individually;
the best example is
perhaps Jesus.

For he clearly said
'I must die
to save sinners;
all humanity.'

But how many of us
are Jesus true
and willing to take the nail
and the crucifixion?

Yet every day we see
mothers and fathers
work themselves to an early grave
for the sake of the children
who oblivious
don't notice
that perhaps
parenting
can be Jesus' emulation..

Ah, so sad and noble too
simultaneously
it would seem,
Natures' scheme
is clear-
we are all Jesus
some are seen
and some
unseen
all sacrificing
in times like these
enduring the nails
forgiving the Crucifixion
for the sake of parenting
silently
most times
unseen
who are close
enough
but most times
don't see.
