The Sobbing Moon

are you listening
i'll tell you
why the stars
are mourning
her trust was
turned to ashes
she bleeds
into the earth
quiescence
betrayed its young
a serpent
flicked its tongue
you will find her
broke and crying
on the dark side
of the moon
can you hide
the sobbing moon
for a while and
keep her safe
can you cover
her naked shame
with my cloak
of healing balm
console her
till i come
with shield to guard
her heart
i'll sink
into her sorrow
and pour it
upon my soul
she'll know me
we don't know how
our mysteries
deep and high
we played on
moons and starscapes
our footfalls
in rhythm run
tell her
I said never
never will
a threat befall her
whisper
her angels name
she'll awaken
from her trance
sing songs
of solo flights
she'll spiral
into her dance
in time
our time will part
she'll win
her phantoms heart
till then
we'll talk our riddles
that no one
understands
our language
free and easy
like two winged
butterflies
she was born
in colors wild
to be reborn
an innocent child
