Mind Games

Here in the comfort of my bed
I welcome the darkened scene.
For the light of day
has gone away
and my life is not what it seems.

I conjure up pictures in my mind
and wonder what they mean?
They're different from my daytime events,
like a movie on a silver screen.

Mysterious, delirious,
crazy comes to mind,
but in the darkness of my room
it's almost as if I'm blind.

I await this time at the end of my day
to see what games my mind will play?
I turn out the light and say goodnight
and return to the scene in which I play

the starring role
that changes me
from who I am
to the irony
of being something different
in the darkness of the night.
