Sonnet: Man is Discontent

I am much better than my good father,
But I am yet to inculcate his good;
I am much better than my good mother,
But I am yet to taste her dainty food.

I am much better than many others,
Yet, I am grateful to my Creator;
I am much better than sisters, brothers;
Am I thankful to God for that matter?

I am much better than my poor brethren;
Discontented’s my cry much of the time!
I am much better than orphaned children;
Do I take care to turn my life sublime?

I am much better than most downtrodden,
Yet, my heart to God at times does harden.
