Seeing Beyond the Fog
I can see what you've written
On the wall beyond the fog
Separating me from the edifice
Of fame that eluded me for too long
I live waiting on happier souls
Whose fortunes are so much more
Than my stacks of assets all whole
While I slave away at my next list of chores
As the writings slowly pass me by
I try to make the words dance to music I create
But my passing glow is still just a lie
And my sand is falling. my days are growing late
My failure to break through the fog
And erase the curses written on the wall
Will eat away at me before long
Until I have no more will to fight at all
The fog surrounds me now
I can see what's on the other side
But I cannot hope to break through anyhow
So I'll try and take my ending in good stride.
