Ripples In The Water
Once a week I go to Battery Park
To recharge my life's batteries;
I watch the ripples in the water
Made by the tugboats pulling their cargo.
The many ripples remind me
Of the city and its multi-ethnic background;
A panorama of life on the subway
As I travel on my way to work.
Since my retirement, I journey not to toil
But rather find myself by the riverside,
Relaxing and energizing my thoughts
As I observe, the ripples in the water.
