Red Dirt Country
Many folks have memories
About the red dirt where they live
Some poor as little church mice
They learned in life to forgive
Old red dirt barn’s too bring memories
A building folks couldn’t do without
Trying hard to scrape out a living
Hard work was never a doubt
The beautiful prickly red dirt cactus
Does kinda parallel the way of life
Thorns poking you ‘round every corner
Men just trying to feed kids and wife
Generation after generation
Has loved the red dirt country
So beautiful is the landscape
It’s been a faithful home for me
I have a lifetime of Red Dirt memories
Some good and yes, some bad
But you know, I’ll treasure them forever
It’s the only life I’ve had!
