Keep and Protect My Love
In the late hours of the night,
I watch the snow fall endlessly
And search my mind for friends.
The clock on the wall is deafening,
The sound of fleeting time escaping
More quickly than wild birds in flight
Keeps me restless and awake.
A Lonely tree with naked winter branches
Shivers beneath the cold dark sky
And awaits the return of the elusive moon.
Some people in life
Arrive too late
And some beautiful souls
Depart too soon.
I have to learn
To keep and protect my love
Before I grow despairing and old.
