Who Is She?
She put on her makeup,
lipstick and blush.
She did up her hair
with comb and brush.
She looked in the mirror
and what did she see?
Someone all made up,
not someone who was she.
For she was a plain gal,
always had been.
She was covering up freckles
and a scar on her chin.
She made up her mind
to become who she was.
Threw away the cosmetics
like a plain gal does.
She undid her hair
and let it flow free.
Looked in the mirror.
What did she see?
Someone who definitely
couldn't be she.
