Year Of The Tiger
A gibbous moon
Of tired ochre
Leered from diagonal
Above the horizon,
One eyed cat
Out for vengeance
Harbinger of doom
War weary pariah,
Fire, fire coolly dimming
Spirit over landscape
Torn from Earth
Quickening the haemorrhage,
Above forest ghosts
Bleached as bones
Into history cast
Prey unto asymmetry,
Stalk the land
On silent paws
In Sun’s rays
Conceal thy fury,
You will kill
We will destroy
But create anew
Our lesser Earth,
Rich and diverse
In celebrating lunar
Cherishing our mythology;
Year of the Tiger.
