That Rock
I saw a rock once
On the way back home
From a family
Get-together
That couldn't really be called a reunion
In my opinion
'Cause we didn't exactly re-unite
We just stood around in
The same room together
Saying hello
And telling a few drunken jokes
With choking laughs
As punch lines
Then we say
'It was nice catching up with you'
As if we really knew
Anything
About each others lives
We don't
Which is why
I chose
To remember that rock
On the way home
From that
Family get-together
Even though I saw it for only two
Blurring seconds
I have
A connection
With that rock
