Running So Long
Waking up crying
Not knowing why
And I'm feeling that I'm going insane
This work that I'm doing
Is breaking my back
This whiskey is breaking my brain
I can' help wondering
With all my good fortune
What makes me feel this way
I spend half of my time
Trying to figure it out
The other half running away
I know you're thinking
That you're lacking something
Can't seem to hold down your man
There's nothing about you
That drives me away
You love me as much as you can
I'm scared of something
It keeps me running
I'm sorry I just can't explain
Honey I love you
But I don't think it's fair
For you to be sharing my pain
I've been running so long
Feeling so wrong
It's all that I know how to do
But with the way that things are
I never get far
Before I start missing you
I run to an old friend
Down in the city
For a couple of laughs and some beers
But I talk about feelings
And spend the whole evening
Trying to hold back my tears
The girls on the street
Make me hungry for loving
But their kind of loving won't do
And here in my heart
I know before long
I'll come running again back to you
