Pavement(sidewalk) Eyes
In a rumble tumble morning
After an evenings firelight glow
Prayers are left unanswered
From a God who didn't show
Cold air breath a signal
The only sign of life
Skipping over Yellow skins
Courtesy of Mr Fyfe
Pavement eyes attracted
No comfort in a stare
Window shopping affection
For a love that isn't there
Arms linked to heartache
Reflection scowls abuse
Yesterday fights tomorrow
Today calls a truce
Wallet has no answer
Money cannot buy
Last nights dream of hope
Tomorrow's tears yet dry
Alpine steps to ease
A burden self packed
Twist and turn the image
Pollyfilla over cracks
Crystal sky drops diamonds
That die in crowns cascade
Pavement eyes attracted
To rivers grey skies made
Sales receipts discarded
Drown in gutters deep
Bright tomorrow's lie hidden
In someone else's sleep
Bottle tops and ring pulls
Fellow travellers answer
Blur the edge of safety
Tightrope ballet dancer
Pavement eyes attracted
Red shoes shine a light
Eyes raised to heaven
Glorious, glorious sight
Matching lips to footwear
Hair of Auburn hue
Perfection in a stranger
Window shopping too?
Two reflections
Standing side by side
A touch away from loving
A word hidden in pride
Golden band spells danger
Shoulders shrug to fate
Red shoes smiles goodbye
Pavement eyes dilate
See the wider picture
Penny in the cup
Sing a song of sixpence
Time for looking up
Sun breaks through the heavens
Streaks a pavement shine
Red shoes in the distance
Mimes things will work out fine
