My Father
When the thunder roars
And the lightning strikes
And the world shatters
Cracks and falls apart
And my mind reaches
The depth of the abyss…
There's one whose very thought
Brings me back to life,
It's you my father
It's you…
You weathered the storms
You showed us the norms
With your unbounded enthusiasm
And words of encouragement
And unprejudiced love of life
Of all manifestations…
Those glorious days
I still remember…
You were not an athlete
Yet played many a game
And turned me into a better sport
You taught me English
Composition and grammar
And the wonderful world of math
Both algebra and the number
I can say this to you father
You always knew the future.
The gleam in your eyes
Is my guiding light
While I search in the darkness
For the treasures of happiness
I will always be there at your side
To get a pat on the back
And to receive
The ever flowing love
From your outstretched hands…
