Golden Autumn
The soft sunlight bathes
the last of the flowers.
The gentle sea breeze
kisses the branches,
releasing the sensual
scent of the lavender bush.
I'm drinking in the
moment - savouring it.
It spills over into
pleasant past memories:
People whom I've known
and warmly loved.
I reach out to an illusion
of strong emotions conjured
by the senses. Knowing it
will be lost as soon as
I try to capture it again.
Standing still now. Satisfied.
Autumn is slowing me down
to an enforced slower pace.
It is nature's way to ensure
that I savour every moment
left to me - no rush.
My life golden like the leaves.
