My Town
Not that much here
where I live
just a emtpy pasture
blowing in the breeze
beautiful picture
outlined with trees
five-hundred feet lays a track
and early in the evening
you can catch that train
those days I don't look back
I lost everything I could give
My town is not much to look at
broken down buildings that use to stand
their's not even a laundrymat
and on the edge of my town
their's a corner store
that old man there
wishing he had more
Down the road
stand's the shell of a bar
nice place once I was told
sit down...
and have yourself a drink
give you time to think
at times I dreamed I was there
another time, another place
But I'm only a stranger there
people stare at me
a face...
they don't know
troubled times with a troubled mind
looking for a scene
I just can't find
In and out every door
I wish upon a shooting star
that falls so near
and disappears without a trace
