Chasing The Dream
He was chasing the dream.
Walking all over the dreams of another.
He deserved it though.
So hard done by.
The victim makes his victims.
The price, not his to pay.
Finally, he reaches his goal.
Or so, it only seems.
He has made it to the top.
Yet, alone he stands.
Staring down, on the dreams of others he destroyed.
His dream, becomes his nightmare.
From the top he falls.
No one there to catch him,
Until the bottom he hits.
He reflects, and his reflection that once he adored,
He is now repulsed by.
All he chased, has now disappeared.
All that remains is him. Alone.
He rebuilds.
He rebuilds the dreams he once destroyed.
Harder work, yet with endless reward.
As others reach the top,
He is now there to catch others as they fall.
Once on his own pedestal, now creating one for others.
So on another's pedestal he sits.
Many hands to catch him if he falls.
Once empty, seeking power from others and in the dark,
Now full, empowered, and a vision of light.
He has found the dream.
It was chasing him the whole time.
