Sleeping With A Memory
When my head hits the pillow
my memory opens up its door
and releases you into my mind
with memories once more.
I don’t want unhappy reminders
to upset my sleep and mind.
I’ve got to try and get over you,
and what you’ve left behind.
You’re even there in my dreams
breaking my heart again.
I can’t escape you day or night
you’re giving so much pain.
I know you’re not responsible
for what happens in my mind,
but will you please marry me,
so I can leave the past behind.
