A Seduction: Small Space Photographs
We were at your mother's house
in the early autumn chill
rummaging the attic
looking at photographs;
close
in the small space,
turning pages
You leaned into me
to get a better look
and I let you.
A murmur
over a blurred baby photo
and the hairs on my neck
curled from the
warmth of your breath,
I tried to hide the fact
that I was shuddering.
'Are you cold' you said.
putting your arm around
offering warmth.
I took that cuddle
and let it settle
into my heart space.
That was all
that was needed then
a simple hug and touch
your warm breath
and I eased back
relaxed
feeling at home;
and I was.
I was thinking we were looking at family
and I was imagining you there in photos
our kids might be looking at years from now.
And you were:
you said it:
'Wonder what our kids would look like.'
you said
You seduced me with that question
and I you when I said:
'I wonder too.'
We started with a hug
above those photographs.
