A Lake of Frozen Tears
To Love No More
is a dreary trek,
a trudge across
frozen ice above
a Lake of Frozen Tears
shed
over Love Lost.
I see the Pillar of Lost Esteem
brimming with weepings;
a Wall of Broken Hearts
each telling their story
in the cacophony;
an Ocean of Salted Wounds
tossed onto the Shores of Unrequited Love.
To Love No More
is to begin
a journey
no one wants to take
or reach that destination
we all know is Despair Complete.
Along the way
I see those who gave up;
who've sowed
Anger-Plants to mark their passing;
Anger Plants growing in
the Jungle of Bitter Regrets
and Harsh Regards.
Swaying plants lash out
when you pass,
crimson stripes on your legs
while below your feet
there are the small raging mind-sets,
strewn with scattered
weeping
abandoned
friends.
There are hordes of Self-Flagulatters
and Blamers
who fly overhead
dropping stones-
whispering names
and recriminations;
hordes trekking on and on.
I am buffeted, reeling;
and
my footing is unstable;
because cracks below my feet
reveal
Mental Instabilities
reaching up
as I walk by
grabbing my legs,
trying to pull me down
below to
bottom-less gravity.
A man says to me
'Follow me
I am lost too.'
A woman says
'Let's drink blood'
I stall on this path,
for it is clear
to Love Again
in all its hurts
cannot be worse
than this.
The Horrifics stare at me
as I pass
saying:
'Don't come back here.
You don't really belong.
You are not really dead inside.'
I guess I'd prefer
the risk Loving Once More
and inch
toward feeling again
rather than visit this place
again.
