Day and Night
I wrap myself with a golden ray,
Which swirls and swarms and warms my heart,
Until the sagging face of day
Slides off the ever-changing chart!
Then I behold the pearly moon,
Illuming dreamland's citadels,
So sterile o'er the darkling dune—
A portrait of such doleful knells!
Thrown back and forth we creatures are,
Caught between two vast extremes,
With the sun and moon and every star
To dot our seamless, ghostly dreams!
