In Morning Light’s Glow
As from night’s rest I open my eyes,
Behold on horizon dawning sunrise.
Gazing over the lake’s rippled face,
Campfire smoke surrounds my place.
As dewy fog lifts upward into the air,
Enigmatically appearing, Maiden fair.
A beautiful picture comes to my sight,
In a glow of the morning’s fresh light.
With buckskin and lace she did dress,
Very rapidly to my canoe I did press.
Pushing without delay from the bank,
Swift and strong strokes I did crank.
Eyes truly fixed on her smile so fine,
Paddling toward her in a perfect line.
Within the calm wind she backed away,
She danced within it in mystical play.
Into some place of a clouded disguise,
Upward with day’s heat she would rise.
Her figure lucidly plain I still could see,
However only light refraction’s were to be.
