Little Kalyn
I met a little girl this week
A girl I've never seen,
Not in the flesh at any rate,
But she's a beauty queen.
Her hair is soft and silky
And tied back with two clips,
Her eyes are ocean blue and...
What a smile from those two lips!
I let her get to know me
Just as slowly as I could,
I wanted to make friends so much
With this my flesh and blood.
She looked me up and down a while
Pretending to be shy,
But gave a little grin when Daddy said,
'Grandpa says Hi.'
Then just as soon as ever
I was happy as could be:
Kalyn got to know me, and
Her first wave was to me!
She's doing lots of crawling now
She's picking up in speed,
Out upon manoeuvres, yes
She's growing like a weed;
Pulling up the furniture
And standing proud and strong,
Better move the ornaments now
Walking won't be long.
We did a lot of playing
Little Kalyn, Kev' and me,
Playing with balloons and such
We were a merry three;
Lots of knocking towers down
And lots of baby foolin',
Lots of laughs and silly games
And lots of sloppy droolin';
But how I'd love this little tot
Through all her mess and wailin'
If I were hers and she were mine
My darling little Kalyn.
