666 War Street
The grimy mirror on the hallway floor
recognized the stranger
who entered its door
a familiar haunting…home for the lost
gallery to hell
a threshold crossed
bleary hopes
letters etched
epithets scrawled
on dim-lit walls
writ 666… in reapers book
a loathsome tome
of names lives forsook
Faded memories… past betrayals
ghostly shadows
floating bouquets
tragic endings…devil-may-cares
echoing murmurings
of faithless prayers
Innocents bartered… at 666
as Black Knights dealt
deaths alluvial fix
reined red horses… rapt with chains
ill-honed spears
found thirsty veins
This survivor returned…but not to mourn
a redemptive quest
an oath foresworn
the mocking mirror… glares no more
the grim boot left
a shard scared floor
