Uncle Sam
I wonder how I got to
be who I am?
Your name means nothing to me.
For I am Uncle Sam.
They've dressed me up
in red, white and blue
and made me famous saying
'I want you.'
They took my picture
and placed it in view
so all would know me, not just a few.
I point my finger
and look real stern.
I've encouraged many teens
to enlist and yearn
to listen to my words
and show no fear.
And most of them listen
year after year.
For I've become an icon.
That's what I am.
My name shows up for every war.
You can call me 'Uncle Sam.'
