At Night
I see you
Walking these streets
At night
Alone and hungry
In search of a meal
I too
Am like you
Though I don’t hide
In the shadows
Sometimes
I pull out one of my cardboard signs
You know the ones
The ones with all the lies
Vietnam vet
Homeless
Will work for food
But what else can I do
I can’t play guitar
Or sing for the life of me
Yet I do get by
I survive
And I always
Find me something to eat
Before I go to bed
At night
